The freeze will take effect for qualified residents with the 2005 property tax bills. Homeowners who already receive the City's senior/disabled exemption will automatically benefit from the senior/disabled freeze. Residents that. currently qualify for the freeze will not pay more in City taxes than they did with their 2004 tax bills. Those that will qualify in the future will not pay more in City taxes than they did in the tax year that they became eligible for the freeze. On June 29, 2004, Council tabled ordinance #2789 which was to adopt the freeze. It will be necessary for Council to motion to remove Ordinance #2789 from being tabled. Once this is done, a motion may be made to adopt the ordinance. Recommendation: To make a motion to remove Ordinance #2789 from being tabled and then to make a motion to approve Ordinance #2789 to implement the senior/disabled property tax freeze.
