Filing Statements and Oaths of Elected and
Subject: Appointed Officials with the Secretary of State - AgendaNumber:GN 90-71
The Secretary of State has pointed out recent changes in Section 1 of Article XVI of the
State Constitution which requires oaths (statements) of elected and appointed officials
to be filed with the Secretary of State. In view of the fact that prior oaths of elected
officials have not been filed with the State, this resolution requires oaths by all
affected officials including Council members who did not stand for elpction in 1990. The
resolution in 1991 will require new oaths for those four Council positions and the new
oaths will cover a full two year term.
