HomeMy WebLinkAboutZBA 1985-08-15 Minutes ~ . MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS AUGUST 15, 1985 - 7:00 P. M. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Billy Cypert at 7:00 P. M. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Secretary Members Alt. Members Billy Cypert Hal Schubert Hans Kossler Ron Hubbard Forrest Grubb Richard Royston Wanda Calvert Dir. Planning & Dev. P & Z Coordinator ABSENT: Jack Roseberry Bill Fenimore CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES OF JULY 18, 1985 Mr. Grubb made the motion to approve the minutes as written. This motion was seconded by Mr. Hubbard and the motion carried 4-0 with Mr. Kossler abstaining since he was not present for all the meeting. . 1. BA 85-6 Request of John N. Hudson to vary from the Zoning Ordinance #1080 on Lot 7, Block 5, Emerald Hills Addition, to allow him to build a carport beyond the front building line. This property is located at 7924 Donegal Lane. Acting Chairman Cypert opened the Public Hearing and called for those wishing to speak in favor of this request to please come forward. Mr. Hudson came forward. He said he felt this carport would benefit them and improve the neighborhood. He said he has another neighbor who plans to build a carport also. Mr. Hudson stated he bought his home 4 years ago. . Mr. Schubert asked if the garage was enclosed when he bought the house. Mr. Hudson stated it was. ~ Page 2 Z B A Minutes August 15, 1985 . Mr. Schubert asked Mr. Hudson if he knew when he bought the house he would have to have a variance to be allowed to have a carport. Mr. Hudson said he did not. He said he likes North Richland Hills and wants to improve the neighborhood. Mr. Grubb asked why he thought it would benefit the neighbors. Hudson said he felt it would improve the looks of the neighborhood. Mr. Schubert stated there were no other carports on their street. Mrs. Hudson stated there was one at 7912 Limerick and they want one like it. She showed pictures to the Board. . Mr. Schubert asked how far would the carport set from the street. Mr. Hudson said the house sets 39 feet back and the carport will be 20 by 20 feet. Mr. Grubb asked how far it would be from the street. Mr. Royston said it would be 10 feet from the property line and less than 20 feet from the street. Acting Chairman Cypert asked Mrs. Calvert if there had been any correspondence. Mrs. Calvert stated there had not been any. Mrs. Hudson said he had talked to 5 of her neighbors who said it was okay with them. . Page 3 Z B A Minutes August 15, 1985 . BA 85-6 DENIED . ADJOURNMENT . ~ Mr. Schubert said he would like to have a carport because his garage is enclosed, but he does not agree with putting up carports. He said he felt they do not enhance the neighborhood. Acting Chairman Cypert called for those wishing to speak in opposition to this request to please come forward. There being no one wishing to speak, the Acting Chairman closed the Public Hearing. Mr. Schubert made the motion to deny BA 85-6. This motion was seconded by Mr. Kossler. Mr. Grubb said he did not feel the Board should set a precedence. The motion for denial carried 5-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 P. M.
