CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Jack Roseberry, at 7:00 P.M. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Chairman Secretary Member Alt. Members P & Z Coordinator Jack Roseberry Martin Erck Bill Fenimore Billy Cypert Ron Hubbard Wanda Calvert ABSENT: Harold Schubert Hans Kossler CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES OF JUNE 26, 1984 Mr. Cypert made the motion to approve the minutes as written. This motion was seconded by Mr. Hubbard and the motion carried 3-0 with the following vote recorded: Cypert, yea, Hubbard, yea, and Roseberry, yea. Mr. Fenimore and Mr. Erck abstained since they were not present at the meeting. . NEW BUSINESS 1. BA 84-12 Request of Buck Awning Company to vary from the Zoning Ordinance #1080 on Lot 4, Block 1, McComas Addition, to allow a carport to be built beyond the side building line. This property is located at 6712 Mabell Street. Mr. Earl Gaunt with Buck Awning came forward. He said there was a slab already poured that was within 4 feet of the property line and they installed a carport over it. Mr. Gaunt said the owners stated the slab was put there when the house was built. He said the owners wanted the carport for his pickup. . ~ Page 2 Z B A Minutes July 19, 1984 . Chairman Roseberry asked when the house was built. Mr. Gaunt said 1976. Mr. Gaunt said they build a nice carport which is an asset to the neighborhood. Mr. Erck asked if this was an addition to the garage. Mr. Gaunt said they have the garage plus the carport. Chairman Roseberry asked if the carport was attached to the house. He said that is a requirement in the building code. . Mr. Gaunt said it was not. Mr. Fenimore asked how far it was from the house. Mr. Gaunt said it was 18 inches. Mr. Fenimore said the building code requirement could be complied with by attaching it with a two by four. Mr. Gaunt said in order to attach the carport to the house, they would have to change the slope of it. Chairman Roseberry said since the Building Official did not say they should also request a variance to allow it to not be attached, the Board would not consider that. Chairman Roseberry asked Mrs. Calvert if there had been any correspondence. . ~ Page 3 Z B A Minutes July 19, 1984 . Mrs. Calvert said there had been none. Chairman Roseberry opened the Public Hearing and called for those wishing to speak in favor of this request to please come forward. There being no one wishing to speak in favor of this request, the Chairman called for those wishing to speak in opposition to this request to please come forward. There being no one wishing to speak, the Chairman closed the Public Hearing. BA 84-12 APPROVED Mr. Fenimore made the motion to approve BA 84-12 as requested. This motion was seconded by Mr. Erck and the motion carried 5-0 with the following vote recorded: Fenimore, yea, Erck, yea, Cypert, yea, Hubbard, yea, and Roseberry, yea. . OLD BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 7:15 P. M. .
