HomeMy WebLinkAboutZBA 1983-05-12 Minutes . MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS MAY 12, 1983 7:00 P. M. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Jack Roseberry, at 7:03 P.M. ROLL CALL PRESENT: CHAIRMAN MEMBERS ALT. MEMBER BUILDING OFFICIAL P & Z COORDINATOR Jack Roseberry Harold Schubert Martin Erck Bill Fenimore Hans Kossler Bill Rice Wanda Calvert ABSENT: Jesse Range CONSIDERATION OF THE MINUTES OF MARCH 10, 1983 Mr. Kossler made the motion to approve the minutes as written. This motion was seconded by Mr. Schubert and the motion carried 3-0 with Mr. Fenimore and Mr. Erck abstaining since they were not present at the meeting. . NEW BUSINESS 1. BA 83-4 Request of George W. Cahill to vary from the Zoning Ordinance #179 on Lot 4, Block 22, North Richland Hills Addition, to be allowed to build a two-car car port beyond the front building line. This property is located at 7312 Coronet. Mr. Cahill came forward. He said he wants to put a car port over his existing driveway. Chairman Roseberry asked if this car port would be metal. Mr. Cahill said if he builds it himself, it would be wood, but if he has it built, it would be metal. He said his plans now, are to build it himself. . Chairman Roseberry asked if it would be enclosed. Mr. Cahill said it would not be. ~ Page 2 Z B A Minutes May 12, 1983 . Mr. Schubert asked if it would be like the one two doors down from Mr. Cahill. Mr. Cahill said he was not sure which one he was referring to, but he thought it would be. Mr. Schubert asked if his garage was enclosed now. Mr. Cahill said it was. Mr. Kossler asked how far it it would be from the street. Mr. Cahill said it would be about 22 or 23 feet from the curb. Mr. Schubert said he wondered if the house two doors down got a variance. Mr. Cahill said he did not know. . Mr. Erck asked what kind of roof would the car port have. Mr. Cahill said it would be a composition roof, a flat roof, hooked up under the eaves. The Chairman opened the Public Hearing and called for those wishing to speak in favor of this request to please come forward. There being no one wishing to speak, the Chairman called for those wishing to speak in opposition to this request to please come forward. There being no one wishing to speak, the Chairman closed the Public Hearing. Mr. Erck asked Mrs. Calvert if there had been any correspondence either for or against this request. Mrs. Calvert said there had been none. . Mr. Erck asked if the Board felt this car port would present a problem in the neighborhood. Page 3 Z B A Minutes May 12, 1983 . . BA 83-4 APPROVED OLD BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT . Mr. Fenimore said there are already several in that neighborhood. He said he does not mind granting this request for this area because the houses set so far back on the lots, but he might have a different decision. Mr. Schubert said he was still confused about how far it would be from the street. He said if he has a 35 foot building line and he comes out 22 feet, how far would it be from the street. Mr. Rice said it would be about 23 or 24 feet from the curb. Mr. Cahill said he has a double driveway and there would be plenty of room for cars to park. Mr. Erck said he has no problem with this request. Mr. Fenimore made the motion to approve BA 83-4 as requested. This motion was seconded by Mr. Erck and the motion carried 5-0 with the following vote recorded: Fenimore, yea, Erck, yea, Schubert, yea, Kossler, yea, and Roseberry, yea. Chairman Roseberry asked Mrs. Calvert if they had had any response from the letter they requested sent to the Mayor and City Council. Mrs. Calvert said she sent the letter to the Mayor and City Council and the Mayor requested copies of the newspaper articles the letter spoke of. She said the Mayor said he would turn this over to the Councilman Newman who is the Board's liaison from the Council. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 P. M. MENT OF ADJUSTMENT
