NEW BUSINESS
BA 75-6
Request of Birdville Independent School District
for a variance to construct an addition to the
Rich1and High School approximately 10 1/2 feet
outside of the building line.
Mr. Bill Smith presented this request stating a
permit was denied as the building would be too
near the sidewalk. This addition is to be a
Band Hall and Fine Arts Complex. In the be-
ginning the size was such we would not have been
too large; however as we got into it the building
became too large and extended too near the property
line. He was asked the distance from the sidewalk
and curb to the building. It will be 4' 2 1/2"
from the sidewalk and 14 1/2 feet from the curb.
Mr. Helton asked if the street north of the school
would continue East. Mr. Smith said there had
been discussion to that effect as the property
East belongs to the school board. Dr. Hahn asked
if they would consider moving the street and having
the parking lot nearer the school. Mr. Smith said
if it ever becomes a problem we would discuss moving
the street back to the TESCO right-of-way. Mr. Jack
Roseberry asked if they felt it would create a
hazard if Nor'East Drive is ever cut throuqh and
if Reynolds Road extended Northwest. Mr. Trotter
stated the owner allowed the school to use the
property as a street until such time the property
is developed. Mr. Smith and Mr. Anderson approached
the Commission members and discussed the problems.
