After reading the legal notice thé:t appeared in the News Texan
and considering the application of Mr. Cotner that the property
be rezoned from Class "A" Residential to Local Retail Business,
Mr. Oxford made a motion and Mr. McCoy seconded it to approve
~his application and recommend tnat the council approve it also.
Motion carried 4-0.

DISCUSSICN - REZONING OF LOTS 1, 2, J, 4 5 and 6, OF
BLOCK 1 OF THE HICHLAND PLA2A ÅDDITION:
"'~--,. After reading the legal notice Mr. Porter asked if there were
any comments from the Audience regarding this request for
rezoning. Mrs. Billy Hill spoke agá1bnst the pettt10n and
sté~ted that she wished the property to stay Class nAil Residential.

Mr. Upchurch also spoke agáinst the rezoning of this property.
One point being that he felt that the people wÌ10 had signed the
petition had done so unaware th8t other types of co~mercial
ventures could be built on the property instead of an ap~rtment
house.
Mr. W. T. King, a representative for Mr. Freð Hill, explained
that the purpose of asking for Local Retail Business zoning
instead of Class "C" Residential was because of vending machines
and three or four laundry machines for the use of the apartment
dwellel~s .
Mr. Joe Baker stated th8t he was under the impression that only
apartments could be built and now did not favor the request for
rezoning to Local Retail Business.
After considerable discussion Mr. McCoy made a motion and Mr.
Oxford seconded it to deny the request and suggested that the
petition be resubmitted as Class "C" Residential instead of
Local Retsll Business. Motion carried 4-0.

Mr. McCoy made a motion and Mr. Porter seconded it to adjourn.
