ROLL CALL Lyle Welch Shelter Supervisor Veterinarian Executive Director, SPCA of Texas City Councilman Present: Sandra Lingren Joe Metcalf Warren Cox Absent: None 3 . MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF AUGUST 20, 1991 APPROVED Motion carried 4-0 4 . ORDINANCE 1774 The following changes were identified iñ the proposed new ordinance and explained by Pam Burney: 1. Table of contents 2. Section added on Riding Stables 3. Dangerous Dog section enhanced 4. Article requiring strict control and prohibition of exotic species 5. Expanded definitions 6. Differential in license fee instituted and late fee of $20. added for those licenses over 30 days past due 5. WARM HUGS PROGRAM PRESENTED BY SANDY LINGREN Bears will be given to each patient in Cook's Fort Worth Children's Hospi tal; Open Arms; and any children suffering trauma due to animal bites throughout the year. Each bear comes with it's own Adoption Contract. We have received $1,650.21 in donations for the "Warm Hugs" project. , 6. EARLY SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM The board suggested possible press coverage on the program. The program is scheduled to begin January 6, 1992. It was recommended that each participating clinic receive 10 dogs and cats on a rotation basis. It was decided that the Mayor would draw names to establish the rotation list. 7. SHELTER EXPANSION PROJECT T-Kennels delivered December 9, 1991, and are being installed. The completion date is expected to be mid to late January of '92. Board was notified of $25,000. grant received from Marguerite Doe Foundation 8. T ANY OTHER BUSINESS Pam Burney presented the new computer program, "Animal Trakkers". This program will allow us to do monthly statements, enter licenses, daily calls, 'and bites. It will also enable us to send reminders to renew city licenses. 9. ADJOURNMENT Meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m..
