ROLL CALL Present: Joe Metcalf Warren Cox Sandra Lingren Veterinarian Executive director, Dallas Humane Society Shelter Supervisor Absent: Lyle Welch Councilman Sandra Lingren is new member taking place of Donna Patterson who resigned. 3 . MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF MAY 22, 1991 APPROVED Motion carried 3-0 4 . APPOINT NEW SECRETARY Dr. Metcalf nominated Sandra Lingren as new secretary of the advisory committee, Warren Cox seconded the motion. The vote carried 3-0. 5 . REPORT ON STATUS OF VOLUNTEER PROGRAM Warren Cox suggested purchasing aprons and name tags for all the volunteers. He also suggested getting a volunteer hand book from the Dallas SPCA. ' ;i 6. CONSIDER STAFFING BOOTH AT CFA CAT SHOW Warren Cox stated that a show had been held in Arlington but to check with Jody Garrison for information on upcoming shows in Fort Worth. 7. STATUS OF CENTER EXPANSION Pam Burney showed the revised blue prints of the addition to the Center. Pam Burney informed all the board members that the Center expansion had been approved by City Council. T Kennel Systems was discussed and recommended the new addition of the runs. 8. EARLY SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM Dr. Metcalf suggested that we send packets to all the veterinarians on the early spay/neuter program, then call an adhoc committee meeting. The suggested process for early spay/neuter is as follows: adopters could come in to the shelter and make their selection, then the next day the animal could be taken to the clinic for the surgery, then the adopter could pick the animal up at the clinic or the shelter the following day. 9. OTHER ITEMS It was suggested that the Shelter Fund purchase a Table Top Display. Dr. Metcalf stated that we contact Mary at Fort Dodge to see if they have a used one we could get at a lower fee. He also suggested we contact branch manager at VCA , who puts out Hills Products to see if they might have one. Pam Burney asked that we purchase more cage card holders from the Shelter Fund also. This was approved by the board. Dr. Metcalf suggested and the board voted to recommend we replace the computer program we are now using with a comprehensive program that will generate license reminders and track animals. Warren Cox suggested we get some prices and information on new programs, and possibly use shelter fund to off set cost. .. Dr. Metcalf has a new computerized cash register that he is not using and stated that he is considering donating it to the shelter. Pam Burney introduced a new Revenue Enhancement Program. This is a "violation notice" for city licenses. She also introduced it to the municipal court to see if the Center could incorporate it into use. 10. ADJOURNMENT Warren Cox moved for adjournment and Dr. Metcalf seconded the motion.
