MINUTES FROM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING FOR THE NORTH
RICHLAND HILLS ANIMAL SHELTER HELD AT THE SHELTER AT
7200 B. DICK FISHER DR. S. ON MAY 22, 1991

CALL TO ORDER
Dr. Joe Metcalf called the meeting to order at 7pm.

Warren Cox is the new member taking the place of Dr. Joanna
Kessler who resigned.

P~t Therapy Program
It was suggested by Warren Cox that we should go through a
voluteer placement program to recruit new volunteers for the
Pet Therapy Program.
Dr. Metcalf also suggested we pput an ad in the local paper.
Lyle Welch suggested the Senior Citizen Center and talk the
Mrs. Gibson. Mr. Welch volunteered to call the center.

RPO Program
The Committee was briefed by Pam Burney about the program
and what it is intended to do.

INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT
It was discussed about the Interlocal Agreement.
Agreement will become effective on Oct. 1, 1991.

The problem of night calls was brought up. Lyle Welch
suggested a pen with a lock placed somewhere in the
back area of the shelter or a room with a bank of cages.
The Board recommends restricted access to the shelter by the
staff of the city of Watauga.
The agreement was discussed extensively.
Pam Burney mentioned the Margurite Doe Foundation, and the
letter she sent to the Foundation to ask for a Grant.

SHELTER EXPANSION
The shelter expansion was discussed, and a suggestion was
made by Warren Cox to put glass windows in the Quarantine
room so that visitors would be discouraged from going into
the room. It was also suggested to place large warning signs
on the door to quarantine.
The board agreed that The Beautification Committee be asked
to help with the landscaping of the grounds.
8.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Licensing was discussed and Warren Cox had a suggestion that
canvassing was very effective in the city of Dallas and it
caused a ripple affect. Also redoing a reminder in the water
bill with a warning of canvassing.
Warren Cox also suggested an encentive to the personnel
working at the clinics selling city license. It was decided
that this suggestion would be looked into.

Lyle Welch moved for adjournment and Dr. Metcalf seconded
the motion.
