Shelter Advisory Board Meeting, Minutes
September 26, 1990 1830 Hours

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Metcalf, Vlse
chairman.

ROLL CALL
Members present were Joanna Kessler, PhD, Dr. Joe Metcalf,
Donna Patterson and Councilman Lyle Welch.
Items:

MINUTES OF SPRING MEETING, MAY 22, 1990
Dr. Metcalf moved , seconded by Councilman Lyle Welch
to approve the minutes of May 22, 1990.
Motion carried 4-0
The report of American Humane and Society of Animal
Welfare Adminstrators annual conference attended by Pam
Burney was discussed and a copy of a memo on the
conference was given to each board member to read at
his/her leisure.
The Adopt a Teacher program was discussed. The board
recommended that the teachers in all elementary school
fourth grades should be targeted. Dr. Metcalf
volunteered to sponsor all of the fourth grade
teachers. Lyle Welch volunteered to sponsor some third
grades through Lisa Motor Lines.
It was brought up about the license application to be
placed in the water bill. A copy of the brochure to
accompany application was given to each board member.
Pam Burney brought up the discussion of the subject of
A.H.A. Standard of Excellence application. She stated
that a new application is now in use and will be
completed and submitted before the next board meeting.
The crematorium was discussed briefly, but it was
decided by the board this project be put on hold in
favor of adding on to the existing building with more
runs and a new quarantine room.
Dr. Kessler talked about (SNYP) Spay, Neuter, Your Pet
low cost coupons to take to a participating
veterinarian and paid for by the client and not the
Humane Society or City Shelter.
It was brought up and agreed upon by the board to
increase the pay to the participating veterinarians in
the area who take the spay/neuter vouchers given by the
shelter when an animal is adopted from the shelter.
The amount paid now is $25.00, and the amount of
increase would bring it up to $30.00. Lyle Welch
requested the Animal Shelter Advisory Board
recommendation be presented to City Council for
approval.

Lyle Welch moved to adjourn, Dr. Metcalf seconded the
motion.
