S AUGUST 16, 2005 1. Call to Order \ ' Chairwoman Kathy Luppy called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Kathy Luppy Holly Bullington Micah Beck David Webb Sarah Enfinger Vickie Propp Chair Commission Member Commission Member Commission Member Commission Member Commission Member Staff: Debbie York Carey Parrack Tiffany Inay Environmental Resource Coordinator Secretary Customer Service Assistant Absent: 2. APPROVAL .oF MINUTES Commission Member David Webb moved to approve the minutes of the meeting held July 19, 2005. Commission Member Holly Bullington seconded the motion. Motion To Approve Carried 6-0. 3. ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION GRANTS Commission Members discussed the Environmental Education Grants and decided on a due date of September 16, 2005. Members discussed adding the following questions to the grant application: · When would the project be completed? · How many students would be involved? · Would you do it again? · Was it successful? · Was this a one time thing or will this be ongoing? · How many volunteer hours did this project take? · Submit any pictures that might have been taken. · What other funding sources have grant recipients received, if any? The members discussed creating a form to email the grant recipients. Debbie York will create a form which she will e-mail to commission members for their approval. \ , 4. PLAN ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY This event is to be done 4 times a year. The last clean-up was in April. The commission members discussed the upcoming clean-up to be held September 17, 2005. The members will meet at the Old Winn Dixie on Starnes & Davis Blvd. at 8:30 a.m. 5. PURCHASE PROMOTIONAL ITEMS The board members discussed purchasing key chains, fans, seed packets and possibly bookmarks which they will give away at special eVÐi1ts. Commission members also discussed giving away door prizes such as Garden Tools. 6. STAFF REPORT Debbie York asked commission members to watch a short tape on the subject of properly conducting Boards and Commissions Meetings presented by NRH attorney, George Staples. Ms. York informed commission members of upcoming events such as the Fire Department's open house to be held October 8th, and "Make a Difference Day" on October 22nd (National Volunteer Day) which North Richland Hills' Neighborhood Initiative Program (NIP) will recognize by working on projects for those in need who have requested help throughout the year; commission members were invited to help with the projects. 7. ADJOURNMENT David Webb motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:55. Sarah Enfinger seconded the motion.
