Motion: John Paraskevas Second: Rhonda Dolan Motion Passed Discuss Criteria KNRHB members set the for Adopt-A- following criteria for the Spot program Adopt-A-Spot program: . Area must be picked up a minimum of six times per year. . KNRHB will provide volunteers with safety vests, gloves and trash bags. New signs will be purchased. The top of the signs will have the words Adopt-A-Spot and the KNRHB logo; there will be two name plates at the bottom of the sign, one will have the name of the Adopt- A-Spot volunteer and the other will have the length/distance of the area adopted. Item Discussion Action Taken Follow-Up Activity reports. · No minimum length/distance of area adopted will be required. · Designated spots to be adopted will have signs posted stating they were available for adoption. · Area to be adopted must be approved by KNRHB commission. A letter will be mailed out to current Adopt-A-Spot volunteers informing them of the changes and find out if they still want to participate in the program. Discuss Clean Commission members Campus declared Clean Campus is Program not a contest but an on-going points system based program. Schools must meet criteria set by KNRHB in order to qualify for the Clean Campus Award. The following criteria was proposed: Schools must participate in at least one of the following categories: Environmental Education Program Adopt-A-Spot On-Going Recycling 50 points will be awarded for the 1 sl main category program and 10 points for each additional program in either the main or sub- categories. Item Discussion Action Taken Follow Up The sub-categories are: Beautification/Litter Prevention a) Graffiti Removal b) Smartscape/Landscape Recycling a) Paper b) Cans c) Ink Jet Cartridges d) School Supplies e) Cardboard f) Used Book Drive Collections a) Clothes b) School Supplies c) Canned Goods/Food Drive d) Toys for Tots e) Socks & Underwear Program criteria and school incentives will be discussed further at the September 161h meeting. September Commission members Business chose Summit Bank as the Landscape winner of September's Award Business Landscape of the Nomination Month award. Discuss Eco Debbie York relayed that she Debbie York Partner has verbal commitments will e-mail Eco Program from several businesses who Partner wish to participate in the Eco brochure and Partner program. The application to businesses that have been commission contacted so far are: members who Signs Now volunteered to UICI contact North Hills Mall remaining Bates Container businesses. Green Mama's J.L. Steel Purofirst Commission members volunteered to contact the remaining businesses. Motion Passed The KNRHB logo will be imprinted whenever possible. Discuss Debbie York advised Motion to have the Volunteer members that the owner of Volunteer Appreciation Appreciation Cotton Belt BBQ, Michael Dinner at Cotton Belt BBQ, Dinner Parkey, quoted her a price of October 20,2003 at $11.00 per plate for the 7:00p.m. volunteer banquet dinner. The price includes the choice Motion: Kathy Luppy of two meats, a drink and Second: Scott Wood dessert. Motion Passed Members made a motion to have the banquet at Cotton Belt BBQ October 201h. Discuss Debbie York and Scott Wood Lighting verified that the Lighting Seminar Seminar scheduled for Item Discussion Action Taken Follow Up October 18tn will be a do it yourself seminar. Trinity Trash Debbie York invited Bash commission members to Discussion attend the Trash Bash on September 131h at Green Valley park. Staff Reports Nothinq to report Citizen Input Kathy Luppy said a place to consider for the retreat is Grady Spruce Park on Possum Kingdom Lake.
