TROPHY TREE PROGRAM
Board members and staff reviewed the guidelines for the Trophy Tree Program, as
outlined in Ordinance NO.1877. Pam Burney informed board members that no new
trophy trees have been awarded since 1994. Board members reviewed the current list
of trees regarded as "trophy trees" and agreed the list should be revised. Board
members also expressed concern regarding fees and tax adjustments as described in

A motion was made Jane Dunkelberg to table the issue of the trophy tree program until
a time when both the Beautification Commission and Parks's department can meet and
discuss/clarify the program, second by Delores Pultz. Motion passed.
Debbie York announced that she delivered a new supply of Trees for Tots brochures to
North Hills Hospital and that the Parks department has already received several
completed applications. Commission members would like to find out if letters about the
Trees for Tots program could be mailed to the parents of babies who were born in 2000.
Patsy Tucker will contact North Richland Hills Records department to see if they can
release this information. Commission members then discussed the date for this year's
Trees for Tots dedication. A motion was then made by Jane Dunkelberg to choose
March 31, 2001 as the date for this year's Trees for Tots program, if this is an
acceptable date with the Parks department, second by Kathy Luppy. Motion passed,
