CALL TO ORDER
Patsy Tucker called the meeting to order at 7:16 p.m.
2.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Delores Pultz to approve the minutes of the October 17,2000 meeting,
second by Emily Ward. Motion passed.
3.
GOALS OF THE
BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
FOR 2001
Commission members reviewed current programs and came up with the following
goals:
~ Expound on current programs
~ Involve businesses more
~ Emphasize landscape programs
~ Continue, and build on, seminars
~ Expand Adopt-A-Spot program
~ I nvolve schools more
~ Involve citizens more by starting
a welcome wagon program
~ Revitalize older areas of North Richland Hills
Commission members decided that Adopt-A-Spot volunteers should be acknowledged,
and suggested doing so at a City Council meeting.
4.
REVIEW AND EVALUATION OF
CURRENT PROGRAMS
Commission members reviewed their current programs, which are listed below, and
came up with the following recommendations:
Jane Dunkelberg will prepare a report for commission members and staff to familiarize
them with the current tree programs and how they work in hopes of increasing
participation in the tree programs. Ms. Dunkelberg will present the report at a
workshop scheduled for February 6,2001. Debbie York, Kathy Luppy, and Emily Ward
will work together to develop ideas for future seminars. Commission members would
like to see their programs/seminars publicized in the City's quarterly newsletter, possibly
spot-lighting a few at a time. Debbie York reported that she received a few negative
comments about this year's Christmas Lighting Contest and suggests the program be
looked at closer, later in the year.

2001 SEMINAR SERIES
Commission members combined their thoughts and ideas for the seminar series they
felt would generate the most interest and came up with the following suggestions.
· Feng Shui
· Patio Back Yard
· Container Gardens
· Native Plants
· Recycle Seminar
· Educate Citizens on City Ordinances
pertaining to the Beautification Commission

STAFF REPORTS
Commission members and staff reviewed and discussed year to date expenditures.

Nothing to report at this time.

ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Emily Ward to adjourn meeting at 8:35p.m.,second by Jeanne Lueck. Motion
passed.
