CALL TO ORDER
Patsy Tucker called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m.
2.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Kathy Luppy to approve the minutes of the September 19, meeting, second
by Emily Ward. Motion passed.

3.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Beautification Commission members elected officers. A motion was made by Delores
Pultz to nominate Patsy Tucker for the position of Chairperson, second by Emily Ward.
Motion passed. A motion was made by Delores Pultz to nominate Emily Ward for the
position of Vice-Chairperson, second by Patsy Tucker. Motion passed.
4.
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING FESTIVITIES
Commission members discussed what their task would be for the upcoming Christmas
Tree Lighting Ceremony. Patsy Tucker will introduce the program; commission
members will distribute candles and help in the craft booth(s).
5.
CHRISTMAS BANNERS
Debbie York reported that Pam Burney suggested possibly reversing the banner colors
and using a green background with a white Christmas tree instead of a white
background with a green tree. Debbie York then notified commission members about
several locations they found throughout the city as possible sites for the new banners.
The following sites were suggested:
· North Richland Hills' Library
· North Rich/and Hills' Recreation Center
· Harwood Rd. (Campus Dr. to Grapevine Highway)
· North Richland Hills' City Hall
· North Richland Hills' Municipal Complex(Mid-Cities Blvd., Tecnol & Dick Fisher Dr.)
· Bedford-Euless Road(Strummer to Office Depot on north side plus one on south
side at corner)
Patsy Tucker recommended the sites be accepted. A motion was made by Emily Ward
to approve locations for the banners, second by Delores Pultz. Motion passed.
However, Beautification Commission members would like to see a "splash of red" added
to the banners.
6.
PLANS FOR VOLUNTEER BANQUET
Debbie York reported that Iron Horse Golf Course has been secured for November 9,
2000, and that invitations for the Volunteer Banquet will be mailed out within the next
week or two.
Kathy Luppy reported that November 14, was the date selected for the Adopt-A-Spot
pizza party. Ms. Luppy said she would notify the school, make transportation
arrangements, as well as contact CiCi's Pizza. Ms. Luppy asked NRH staff, however, to
make certificates of appreciation for the Adopt-A-Spot volunteers.

7.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTING CONTEST
Patsy Tucker relayed to commission members that several of the Yard-of-the-Month
judges had questions about the Christmas Lighting Contest. Patsy Tucker will send a
letter to each judge addressing these questions. Commission members then discussed
contest signage. Debbie York informed commission members that slipcovers to go over
the Adopt-A-Spot signs were $71.00 each and corrugated signs, from Signs Now, run
$17.50 each. Commission members decided to use corrugated signs with as much
color as possible. Wording for the signs will be decided at a later date.
