S. CALL TO ORDER Patsy Tucker called the meeting to order at 7:16 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Motion by Delores Pultz to approve the minutes of the May 16, meeting, second by Doris Batenhorst. Motion passed. 3 PLANS FOR FALL EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR Patsy Tucker reported that the three commission members who attended the June 6, workshop chose September 23, as the fall seminar date. Commission members reviewed the list of seminar topics they came up with at the May 16, meeting and decided the fall seminar would be on water gardens/ponds. A motion was made by Doris Batenhorst that a Fall Seminar be held at the Environmental Services building early afternoon on September 23, and that Scott Wood will be asked to do a presentation on ponds. Second by Delores Pultz. Motion passed. Peggy Weatherred will handle the publicity for the event by placing seminar information in the City Newsletter, contacting area homeowner's associations, social organizations, and the Star-Telegram. Peggy Weatherred will also contact Barnes and Nobles to see if they will advertise for the seminar and offer books on ponds and pond building. 4. REVIEW OF BY-LAWS REGARDING ATTENDANCE POLICY Commission members were each given a copy of the By-Laws, which members then discussed. Patsy Tucker encouraged members to try to attend each of the regularly scheduled meetings. Commission members discussed taking off either the month of July or August due to vacations, but decided to continue meeting in order to prepare for the fall seminar. Commission members did decide, however, to only have workshops when they are vital. Patsy Tucker announced that commission member Theresa Hampton has resigned due to an increasingly busy work schedule. Theresa Hampton will, however, continue to be the Yard-of-the-Month judge for her area. 5. CITIZEN INPUT Debbie York announced that there are two new Adopt-A-Spot volunteers. Gary and Sonja Starnes adopted the Southeast edge of Adventure World along Starnes and a local Girl Scout-troop has adopted the area on Hightower Rd. across from the Tom Thumb grocery store. Commission members cancelled the workshop that had been scheduled for July 5. 6. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn by Patsy Tucker at 8:10 p.m. &Æß#dd/!~ Carey Parrac Environmental Services Secretary
