CALL TO ORDER
Patsy Tucker called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Jeanne Lueck to approve the minutes of the September 21, meeting second by Emily
Ward.. Motion approved.

PRESENTATION OF NEW ADOPT-A-SPOT SIGNS
The Commission members viewed the new sign. Debbie York reported that Kathy Luppy's 5th
grade class from North Ridge Elementary had their first clean up day at their adopt-a-spot and
that their picture was in the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
4.
TREE PROGRAM FOR 2000
In the absence of Jane Dunkleberg who has proposed a program of offering 2000 trees to
citizens for planting in the year 2000, this item was tabled until the next meeting.
5.
HOLIDAY BANNERS
Debbie York reported that 29 of the current holiday banners could be used this year and that
there are 15 banners that are not usable due to excessive damage. The 29 banners that are
usable for this year may not be for the following year due to age and wear and tear. In light of
the condition of the banners, Deloris Pultz made the motion that a recommendation be made to
the City Council to replace the existing banners with new ones. Second by Emily Ward. Motion
approved.
6.
OTHER ITEMS
Patsy Tucker reported that the area high school bands will be tied up at a contest on the night qf .
the Christmas Tree Lighting and will not be able to play. Suggestions given for entertainment
possibilities were local church groups and taped music. .
Jeanne Lueck made a motion to prepare goodie bags for the Rebelaires as a way of thanking
them for their participation in the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.
Since the blue shirt worn by Beautification Commission members is no longer available, all
members will receive a new shirt. The members chose a kelly green shirt to be monogrammed.
Debbie York informed the commission that their written comments regarding the draft of the
Tree Preservation Ordinance would need to be turned into the Planning Department by
Wednesday, October 20. Patsy Tucker was asked by the members to express the views of the
commission at the public hearing scheduled for Monday, October 25.
All members were reminded of the volunteer banquet on Tuesday, November 2.
