CALL TO ORDER
Ms. Pultz called the meeting to order October 18,1994 at 7:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Ms. Scoma made a motion, seconded by Ms. Ward, to approve the minutes, as amended, of the
October 18, 1994 Beautification Commission meeting. Motion carried 5-0.
3.
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY
Ms. Lueck updated the Commission on the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will be
held on Tuesday, November 29, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. Posters are ready for distribution, each
Commission member will distribute posters to area school, grocery stores and day cares. Ms.
Lueck will confirm with Mayor Brown regarding emceeing the event. Mr. Hightshoe received the
setup instructions for North Richland Middle School Band. The Commission would like to go
with the same setup as last year regarding the arrival of Santa Claus and the fire engine, up
front and barricaded off.

RE-LEAF TARRANT COUNTY - NEIGHBORWOODS - SEMINAR
Ms. Dunkelberg made a motion, seconded by Ms. Tucker, to hold a Seminar with Diane Kern from Re-
Leaf Tarrant County on the Neighborwoods Program at the North Richland Hills Recreation Center on
January 12, or January 19, at 7:00 p.m. Motion carried 6-0. Mr. Hightshoe will provide the Commission
with a list of names and addresses for the Neighborhood Associations in North Richland Hills.

STAFF REPORTS
Mr. Hightshoe updated the Commission on the Christmas Banners, which are being placed at this time.

DISCUSSION OF OTHER ITEMS/CITIZEN INPUT
The Commission decided not to provide hot cider at the Christmas Lighting Ceremony.
Ms. Scoma inquired about the money left over from the Christmas Decorations. The remaining money
will be used to place more decorations around City Hall.
Ms. Dunkelberg attended the Keep Texas Beautiful Board meeting which was held on November 11,
1994 in Austin, Texas.
The Commission was approached by the Summerfields Beautification Committee about possibly judging
a Christmas Yard Decoration Contest in their area. Ms. Tucker, Ms. Ward, and Ms. Scoma showed
some interest in the contest. Ms. Tucker made a motion, seconded by Ms. Ward to obtain further
information about the contest. Motion carried 5-0. Ms. Dunkelberg abstained.
The December Beautification Commission meeting will be moved to December 13, 1994 due to the
Holiday Season.
Ms. Dunkelberg informed the Commission that the NEET Arbor Earth Day is February 22, 1995.
The Commission will not hold a workshop in December or January due to the Christmas Tree Lighting
Ceremony and the Christmas Tree Recycling Program. The next workshop will be scheduled for
February.

Ms. Pultz adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
