CALL TO ORDER Ms. Pultz called the meeting to order August 16, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Ms. Ounkelberg made a motion, secèñded by Mrs. Sommermeyer, to approve the minutes, as amended, of the July 19, 1994 Beautification Commission meeting. Motion carried 5-0. 3. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE WORKSHOP The North Central Texas Council of Governments has devised a Household Hazardous Waste Workshop to be presented in area communities. Ms. Dunkelberg would like the Beatification Commission to sponsor this workshop. Ms. Dunkelberg made a motion, seconded by Ms. Lueck, to hold a Household Hazardous Waste Workshop at the NRH Recreation Center to be conducted by North Central Texas Council of Governments on October 20. Motion carried 5-0. 4. KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL WORKSHOP Ms. Dunkelberg suggested a written program for the September 6th workshop. Items of discussion wil include: Assembly of the 1995 Trophy Tree List; Calendar - plan for the coming year; discuss the remaining balance in the budget - possibly purchasing a tree. Beautification Commission Minutes August 16, 1994 1 5. TROPHY TREE PROGRAM Ms. Pultz would like the Commission to start planning on the next 20 trees for the Trophy Tree Program for 1995. They need to finalize the list within the next 30-45 days. Mr. Hightshoe made the following suggestions, leave species of trees that did not get nominated (6-7) on the list, and every year have a list of only 20 species of trees to be nominated. Ms. Dunkelberg also handed out copies of the Jerry Jeff Walker Song written for Keep Texas Beautiful. 6. STAFF REPORTS Mr. Hightshoe informed the Commission about the Parks and Recreation Departments new Park Planning and Construction Superintendent, Patricia Hannon Moos. Mr. Hightshoe also showed the new Clean Campus Award sign to the Commission. 7. DISCUSSION OF OTHER ITEMS/CITIZEN INPUT Ms. Dunkelberg handed out information on the Re-Leaf Tarrant County "NeighborWoods" Program for the Commission's consideration. NeighborWoods is designed to give homeowners the opportunity to purchase high quality, low cost trees for their homes. 8. ADJOURNMENT Ms. Pultz adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m. ~b~~'â){~ Secretary
