MINUTES OF THE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS,

CALL TO ORDER
Ms. Pultz called the meeting to order February 15,1994 at 7:05 p.m.
2.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Mrs. Sommermeyer moved, seconded by Ms. Ward, to approve the minutes of the January 18, 1994 Beautification
Commission meeting. Motion carried 4-0.
3.
VOLUNTEER BANQUET DONATIONS - FOOD
The Volunteer Appreciation Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 3, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. Ms. Tucker will be
organize decorations. The Commission would like to seek donations for food items for the Banquet. Ms. Scoma
moved, seconded by Ms. Tucker to seek donations from Cici's Pizza, Olive Garden, Food Lion and Sam's Club.
Motion carried 4-0.
4.
CAMERA
The Commissions' current camera is broken, the plastic gears are worn out. The estimated cost to repair is $85.00.
Mrs. Sommermeyer moved, seconded by Ms. Tucker, to repair the camera instead of purchasing a new camera.
Motion carried 4-0.
5.
YARD OF THE MONTH CERTIFICATES
The Commission would like to reorder a two year supply of Yard Of The Month Certificates. They would also like to
see other samples to change it up. Samples will be provided at the March meeting.

6.
CONSTRUCTION SITE BILINGUAL SIGNS & LETTER
The Commission would like bilingual signs provided for construction sites in North Richland Hills. The Commission
feels that maybe this could fall under the City Ordinances, or possibly one of the builders association can donate to
purchase these signs. The Commission would like to approach City Council regarding funding for this project. Mrs.
Sommermeyer moved, seconded by Ms. Ward, to adopt this design for the bilingual signs. Motion carried 4-0 Ms.
Scoma moved, seconded by Ms. Tucker, to approach City Council for funding for the signs. Motion carried 4-0. Ms.
Scoma moved, seconded by Ms. Ward, to accept the thank you letter to Ms. Mercedes Garcia for her help with the
translation of the bilingual signs. Motion carried 4-0.
7.
KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL EBBY HALLIDAY AND MAURICE ACERS AWARDS
Ms. Scoma moved, seconded by Mrs. Sommermeyer, to ask Bates Container to submit an application for the KTB
Ebby Halliday and Maurice Acers Awards by March 15, 1994. If Bates Container does not wish to participate in the
KTB awards then the Commission would like to nominate Tecnol. The Commission will ask Jane Dunkelberg to
contact Bates Container. A letter will be mailed extending an invitation for Bates to participate in this annual KTB
Award. Motion carried 4-0.
8.
DISCUSSION OF OTHER ITEMS
Staff will look in to an area for the wildflower planting.
Councilwoman Spurlock was very complimentary to the Commission on the Trophy Tree Workshop.
Ms. Pultz went before the Council to tell them about the Trophy Tree Workshop.
Staff informed the Commission that the Ordinances are running on Citicable.
