7:05 PM by Ms. Scoma
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Ms. With made a motion to amend the
minutes of the July 21, 1992 meeting with
the following changes: Delete victor
Baxter from Members In Attendance.
Ms. Pultz seconded the motion. Vote was
unanimous in favor of the motion.
ITEM 3: KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL GOVERNOR'S AWARD APPLICATION REPORT
Ms. Dunkelberg read her report to the Commission on the Keep Texas
Beautiful Governor's Award Application. (Reports are on file)
Ms. Dunkelberg also introduced the Commission to "Volunteer
Environmental Monitoring System" (Water Monitoring) .
ITEM 4: WASTE IN PLACE REPORT
Ms. Sommermeyer read her report to the Commission on the "Texas Waste
In Place" Seminar which was held at the W. G. Thomas Coliseum on
August 3, 1992 by Jeff Hurt. (Reports are on file)
ITEM 5: DISCUSSION ON BUDGET EXPENDITURES
Ms. Scoma discussed the expenditures left for the Beautification
commission and reported the balance to be approximately $55.00. A
decision will be made in September concerning the remainder of the
balance.
ITEM 6: DISCUSSION OF POLICIES AND GUIDELINES FOR "YARD OF THE MONTH"
AND "LANDSCAPE OF THE MONTH" AWARDS
Ms. Scoma stated that this topic has already been discussed in a
special workshop in April and since only one judge was in attendance
she did not feel it would be beneficial to discuss.
ITEM 7: STAFF REPORT
Mr. Hightshoe gave the following report:
The 1/2 Cent Sales Tax passed. The Parks and Recreation Department is
already getting started on some projects. Mr. Hightshoe attended the
Teachers Institute at Pine Woods Convention sponsored by the Texas
Forest Association. He participated in two programs, Project wild and
Project Learning Tree which will be used in future park programs.
ITEM 8: DISCUSSION OF OTHER ITEMS
* The Commission will hold a workshop to discuss the KTB award
application, Council, Department Heads, Mr. Rodger Line and Mr.
Dennis Horvath will be invited to attend. A definite date has not
been set.
* Ms. Dunkelberg would like to inform the Council and Mr. Rodger Line
of the "Volunteer Evnvironmental Monitoring System".
