MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE Janice Davis, Chairperson Kathy Robinson Alice Scoma Jerry Taylor MEMBERS NOT IN ATTENDANCE: Jane Dunkelberg Marilyn with Rusty Moore CALLED TO ORDER Ms. Davis at 7:05 P.M.. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES The minutes of the January 8, 1991 meeting were approved as submitted. Ms. Davis announced that Brenda Sralla had resigned her position due to relocation. ITEM 3: DISCUSSION OF "DON'T BAG IT" The "Don't Bag-It" brochure will be printed and enclosed in the water bill. Thanks to Mr. Lee Maness, Director of Finance, for arranging Laidlaw to fund this printing. Discussion was held on the February 28 and the March 5 seminars. Ms. Scoma made a motion that we postpone the March "Don't Bag-It" seminar sponsored by the Beautification Commission until a later date as demand arises. Motion seconded by Mr. Taylor. Discussion was held on the "Don't Bag-It" T-shirts and it was agreed that we would order shirts for the Commission. Ms. Robinson will order the T-shirts. ITEM 4: DISCUSSION OF "BAG-A-THON" April 20 is designated as "Bag-a-Thon Day". The North Richland Hills participants will meet at Richfield park. Further and more detailed plans will be made. Ms. Scoma will chair this project. ITEM 5: DISCUSSION OF REMEMBRANCE TREE Ms. Davis reported that the City Council requested that the Remembrance Tree brochure be printed professionally. The Parks and Recreation office will receive the phone calls regarding the donations. Ms. Davis stated that she had given an interview to the Mid-cities News regarding this project. ~ ITEM 6: DISCUSSION OF OTHER ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA Ms. Sralla was working on the "Adopt-a-Spot" brochure and will give her material to Ms. Davis. Bids have gone out on the Watauga Road island landscaping and planting should begin within the next two months. Ms. Dunkelberg sent a letter on the Fire station landscaping (Watauga Road - a copy is attached). The approximate total for the red tip photinias would be $663.00. Motion was made by Ms. Robinson and seconded by Mr. Taylor that we fund this project. Ms. Robinson made a motion that we request that our minutes and agenda be mailed to each member prior to the meeting date so that it can be read before the meeting. Mr. Taylor seconded the motion. Ms. Robinson reported on a "Keep Texas Beautiful workshop in Harlingen on February 16. Ms. Robinson will order a video of the seminar. Mr. Taylor suggested that we make contact with the churches and have a liaison member in each church to coordinate volunteers at the church with commission projects. Mr. Taylor agreed to work on this project. Mr. Taylor informed the Commission that the City Council is working on a March 16 date to honor our military. He is working with them on this project.
