MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE Kathy Robinson Alice Scoma Janice Davis Marilyn with Jane Dunkelberg MEMBERS NOT IN ATTENDANCE: Kenneth Franklin Brenda Sralla Rusty Moore ALSO IN ATTENDANCE Mr. Jerry Taylor - Volunteer MEETING CALLED TO ORDER Ms. Robinson called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Ms. Scoma made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 5, 1990 meeting as written. Ms. Dunkelberg seconded the motion. ITEM 4: Discussion of Island at Stardust and starnes Ms. Robinson said that Mr. Browne is getting a sign for islands stating "Your Beautification Commission in Action". Ms. Scoma made a motion to approve the island on starnes in front of Fire station #1 at $820.00. The motion was seconded by Ms. Dunkelberg. Ms. Dunkelberg made a motion approve Plan #2 for the Rufe Snow and stardust Island at a cost of $904.00. Ms. Scoma seconded the motion. ITEM 5: Discuss Cost for the Harwood Median Ms. Dunkelberg presented her plans for drought resistant trees and shrubs. The Commission discussed what trees and plants to be used and Ms. Dunkelberg will prepare precise plans with price lists to be presented to the City Council. Plants will be planted without an irrigation system. ITEM 6: Discuss City Hall Tress Ms. Robinson stated that the Council wanted the Commission to assist in getting prices for the tree planting at City Hall. Brentwood, Cain, Mitchells, and Gemco Nurseries were suggested as good places to purchase trees. ITEM 7: Discuss Fire Department Replanting Ms. Dunkelberg reported that the cost of replacement and finishing the beds should be approximately $3,500. The island in front and the long bed behind the building have no specific cost estimates at this time. Ms. Davis made a motion for Ms. Dunkelberg to continue with the Fire Station Project and expend funds as needs. Ms. Scoma seconded the motion. ITEMS 8 AND 9 WERE TABLED ITEM 10: Discussion of other Items Not on Agenda Ms. Dunkelberg reported that the Afghan Pine seedlings can be purchased at $.60 each for 1000 seedlings. They must be ordered by November 1. Ms. Davis suggested that a Commission Member head up the tree chipping project. Mr. Taylor volunteered to assist the Commission Member with this project. Discussion of recycling survey will be postponed. Ms. Scoma reported that anyone who would like to see the landscapes in Addison and Carrollton on August 3, 1990 with Councilwoman Spurlock, may do so. ADJOURNMENT Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 P.M..
