MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE Kathy Robinson Alice Scoma Janice Davis Brenda Sralla Jane Dunkelberg MEMBERS NOT IN ATTENDANCE: Juanita Kemp ALSO IN ATTENDANCE Kenneth Franklin Brad Nielson, Mid-Cities News MEETING CALLED TO ORDER Ms. Robinson called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Ms. Dunkelberg made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 6, 1990 meeting as written. Ms. Sralla seconded the motion. Ms. Robinson requested a change in the agenda to move Number 7 to this position. ITEM 7: Discussion of "Trash-Off" Day The Commission viewed a video of the activities on "Trash-Off" Day. Mr. Nielson asked questions for an article he was preparing for the Mid-Cities News. Ms. Dunkelberg will prepare an article for the City newsletter about the "Trash-off" Day and Arbor Day. ITEM 4: Discussion of Arbor Day Arbor Day ceremonies will be held April 27, 1990 behind City Hall at 1:30 P.M.. A motion was made by Ms. Davis and seconded by Ms. Sralla to send invitations to City Department Heads, officials of neighboring cities, Chamber of Commerce officials, and other dignitaries. Letters will be sent to all local merchants asking them to join the day by planting a tree. ITEM 5: Discussion of Yard of the Month Ms. Scoma will be coordinator for the program again. She will have all guidelines and assignments ready for the workshop meeting April 17, 1990. The City will prepare a sign for the "Business of the Month". It was decided that the sign should say "Landscape of the Month". Qualifying businesses will include all establishments other than single family homes. Criteria: 1. Consistent maintenance of visible areas. 2. Significant improvement of visible areas. 3. Good use of landscape materials and live plants. ITEM 6: Discussion of Richfield Project - Sharing Costs Ms. Dunkelberg reported that the plants were not purchased from the nursery that was agreed upon. There were several discrepancies between the materials listed on the estimate sheet and the materials actually used. She presented pictures she took during the construction to be placed in the scrapbook. ITEM 8: Discussion of "Keep Texas Beautiful" Application Ms. Robinson asked for help contacting youth groups about their cleanup activities. She asked the members to report the hours they have spent on Beautification Commission work. ITEM 9: Discussion of Other Items Not on Agenda There was none.
