MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
Ms. Robinson called the meeting to
order at 7:10 P.M..
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Ms. Scoma made a motion to approve
the minutes of the November 7, 1989
meeting. Ms. Dunkelberg seconded
the motion.
ITEM 4: ARBOR DAY - CHANGE OF DATE
Ms. Robinson reported that the Texas Legislature has changed Arbor Day
from January 19, 1990 to April 27, 1990. Motion was made by Ms. Davis
to move the ceremony to April 27, 1990. Ms. Sralla seconded the
motion. The Ceremony was set for 2:00 P.M.. Ms. Robinson will work on
getting a speaker for the program. Ms. Sralla read a letter she
composed to be sent the businessmen concerning Arbor Day.
Ms. Dunkelberg will compose a press release.
ITEM 5: DECIDE ON COLOR OF PAVERS FOR ISLAND
Mr. Tim Hightshoe, Parks Division, Parks and Recreation Department,
brought patterns and colors of paves tone for the Glenview Drive/Rufe
Snow Island. The Committee noted to recommend the Herringbone 45
degree pattern and the River Red color. Mr. Hightshoe presented plans
for landscaping an island at Rufe Snow Drive and stardust.
ITEM 6: TREE PROTECTION
Ms. Davis reported that she will have the recommendations ready for
approval by the next meeting.
ITEM 7: KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL
Ms. Robinson asked the Commission for a decision on participating on
"Keep Texas Beautiful" project. Mr. Hightshoe told about what the
City of Euless has done for their project. Ms. Davis suggested that
the Commission make an application with a goal of winning the award in
five to seven years. Mr. Hightshoe suggested a "trash-off" day. The
Commission decided to propose a day this spring to be set aside for
trash pickup, with a picnic at the park afterward. Ms. Robinson will
ask Mr. Browne to ask the Parks and Recreation Board to participate in
the project. A target date was set for late March or early April.
Ms. Robinson proposed starting an "Adopt-a-Spot" program. Ms. Sralla
volunteered to be chairperson and draw up guidelines before the next
meeting.
Ms. Scoma reported that she purchased refreshments for the choir and
band to show our appreciation for their participation in the Christmas
Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Ms. Davis made a motion to adjourn at 9:20 P.M..
