B. May 24 and ~6 we finislied holding certifi~ation classes far IdFSCP?. Only about three or four coar.hes from the associations participated in these make-up classes. C. Our first annu~I sprinq dance recital was he~d May 15 at Richland Juni~r High Schaal. We would like to thank Sliarcn BattlES foi all the help she gave our instructor Terry wedge. All of our summer classes start this week. our programs are rEally booming and we are loo}~ing far a great summer. Discussian: Mr. McGilvary asked if we had gotten a big respor~se from our p~rticipation at North Hills Mall. NIs. Walsh said that shz tli4ught we ha3 gotten a very goad rzsponse. Ms. Walsh said that the only thing she would have changed was the location of the b~ath, which was at one ~n3 of the mall and not iii the middle wllere there wa_ mc~re traf f ic . ITEM G: NF.H SENIOR CITI~EN CENTER REPORT Tlxe Chair asked for a r~pres~nLative froia the Sei.ior CenLer, Mary hi~n Gibsan gav~ the following report: In r;ay activities included a"Fling Dinq Dinner Dance", Mother's Doy, Glder TT?mmerican Manth, and I3ational Senior Center h'eek. In June thEre will he a CPR training program presented. we will also celebratz Fatlzer'~ Day and have a pot luck picnic. Madge Wright one of our participazlts will be featured iil the Uizited Way campuign film that will be shown oi~ tel~vision starting in September. ITEM 7: RICHLAND YOUTH ASSOCIATION F.EPOP.T The Chair asked for a representative from RYA. Da:z Nawcl ga~e ~ the followir~g report: F.YA will finish baseball season this ~ week. District Mustang and Brunco ~ames will be played ~ after July 4th. Ab~ut 750 kids participa~ed in the baseball progr&m this season. Tllere were 20 T-ball teams with about ~0 kids pE1 team. ~iscussion: Mr. Par}:ey asked if RYA ha~ replaced the pre~~dent who ~ es ir~i~ed 1 as t month . ITEM 8: NORTH RICHLAi3D GIRLS SOFTBALL ASSOCI~TION The Cllair asked for a regresentativ~ from NRGSA, noiie was presei~t . ITBM 9: NEFF~L REQUEST FGR CO-SPONSORSHIP OF "WESTERN DF~YS" Gearge Tyngle of NEFF~L gave the follcwing prapc~sal. NEFAL wauld like to put on a wastern celebratiaiz f~r the city of Nor~h F~ichlanu Hills tc~ help encourage the arts. This event w~uld ~egin about 6 F. M. and end about 9:30 P. M. Tl1e activities ' wauld include a fast draw contest for artists, a western art display, the uames Ganq a dramatic aild camedy group that ins~ludes mock gunfights, a fiddler, the mayor and cti~er mayors and city council iil a sl~awdown water balloon f ight . If the cable peaple wauld tape or broadcas~ this event it should be ir~terESting. NEFI~L dc~es ilot waiit to affer food except maybe fcr soft drinks. i3EFAL would pay for the,enterta~nment. NEFAL would like ta ask the Far}.s an3 F,ecreation Bcard and thE City cf North ~icl~Iaiid Hills to co-sponsor this evEr~t . Discussio~i: Mr. Tipps said that he whole heartedly en~orsEd this event and tl3ought it was a great compliment to tlle city. t~tr. McGilvaiy asked it the Board could offer the building free of charge. Mr. Peti}:a said that the only thing that needed to be checncd was to make sure that this did not iiiterfere with any ~ctivities a11 rea.dy planned. Mr. Fenimore asked if any other groups could sEll food. Mr. Angle said that NEFAL didn't want to bother with faod p~rmits ar~d would only have a self cantainE3 soft drinl: b~ath. Nr. Davis asked if this had to go I~EfGI'~ City Council for approval. Mr. Fetika s~id that this does ilat have te go before City Council and that staff is anxious to suppart this. Mr. FPnimore made the motion for the Parks and Recreatian Departmeilt to co-~pon.ar tl~e NEFAL °'Western Days" celebration. Mr. Bavis sec~~nded the motion.
