Commission in Attendance: Mr. David McGilvary, Chairman Mr. J. Douglas Davis, Vice Chairman Mr. Don Tipps Commission Not in Attendance: Mr. Howard Nix Mr. Neil McCombs Also in Attendance: Mr. David M. Petika, Director, Parks and Recreation Mr. Jack Giacomarro, Parks Superintendent, Parks Department Mr. Gary Laird, President, RYA Mr. Ken Graves, Commissioner, Girls Softball Association Ms. Phyllis Smith, Treasurer, Girls Softball Association Meeting Called to Order: Mr. David McGilvary, Chai~an, at 6:38 p.m. Due to a quorum not in attendance, the Chair requested motion be made to table all items on the agenda, with the exception of Ite.m ~2. Motion was made by Mr. Davis, and seconded by Mr. Tipps. ITEM ~62: Mr. Gary Laird, President, RYA Mr. Laird advised the Commission that cleaning-up and setting up of Richfield Park is being done in order to prepare for the upcoming ball season. The concession stand is being sanded and repainted, and purchase the ultrasonic devices to rid the building of mice. Dirt being brought in to help rebuild certain fields. In mid-July, after season play, the Bronco field will be hydromulched. The registration have brought approximately 400 boys to the RYA for season play. Due to the over abundance of vandalism at the parks, the City will be placing a new lock and key system in all the parks. Mr. Tipps stated that he would like to see a physical security force in the parks. ~ t Mr. Ken Graves, Commissioner, Girls Softball Assocation Mr. Graves issued a financial report of their association. He stated that maintenance on the ballpark has begun. Mr. Petika stated that an electrical inspection was needed upon co~pletion of their electrical work. Mr. Graves agreed to this request. Mr. Graves stated that they are hoping for a greater turn out for their registration. At this time they have approximately 150 girls registered for season play. Mr. Tipps asked Mr. Graves if they receive bids for trophies. Mr. Graves stated that they do, but Trophies of Distinrtion usually won the bid. Mr. Petika stated that restitution is being made on the vandalism of the lights at Fossil Creek Park and the turf at Norich Park. He also remarked that a new item would appear on the Monthly Performance Report called Restitution Gathered. The Chair requested that a motion be made for ad~ournment: Mr. Davis made a motion for ad3ournment at 7:03 p.m. Motion was secanded by Mr. Tipps.
