Petika~ Director P b R Call to order by Vice Chairman: J. Douglas Davis Approval of Minutes: No Minutes to be approved since no meeting has been ' held ia the recent ti~ae . New Business Conducted: Item 1: New Qrdinance Governing The Board Discussion was gi.vea on revisians to the Parks Board and those revisions were explaiaed to the board. ~ Item 2: Upcomi~g Events Director, David M. Petika discussed the followi~g: Meeting to be held at the Caa~uuity Cent~r on Septeznber 20, 1984 at 7 PM for the free seminar on Cannirag & Faod Preservation. Press releases mailed to all local newsp~pers and on 1~RIi Cable Channel. A S R Run Cystic Fibrosis Donatian to be held oa September 22, 1984 at 8:00 AM at the Richfield Park startiag place. R~quested the board mermbers to attend the run. T-Shizts will be given aut by the Cystic Fibrosis Oxganization, Trophies to be given out for all age groups donated by the Trophy Art,Inc. of Fort Worth. Coca Cola will have a truck for coke driaks available, also ice is being donated by the 7-11 Stores. A Timex Computer was donated by the Eckerd Dxugs. Discussion of the pendiug Seaior Citizen Center located on Bursey Road, owned by the City of North Richlgnd Iiills. Discussed the Clean Up Gampaign planned for October 13, 1984. Many scout troops have called in and donated their time to help with the campaign. ~ ~ Page 2 Ztem 3: Review of Monthly Reports Mr. David Petika presented the Monthly reporte on Performance of Parks Grounds Maintenance expenses and control, also the Co~nunity C~nter Performance Report on Clas~ Registration and Cost Control of Expenses. Discussed the many new classes being offered at the Coamiunity Center. Also discussed the Maintenance of all the Right of Ways and City property by the Parks Depart~ent. Repozted the City Council approval of $25,000.00 for the , Beautification of the City. Item 4: Input from the 8oard All Board Members very satisfied with the new ~ccomplishments of the Parks & Recreation Department. Dan Echols reparted he and the City Council support the Parks & Recreation Dept. also the need for a~ogging trail, bicycle trails aad land development (S0~ undeveloped land). item 5: Discussion Items Not on Agenda Motion made by J. Douglas Davie for Directbr to securing property ad~acant to Northfield Park (Appxoximately 27 acres) for the use of park, picnic area etc. Motion seconded by Howard J. Nix Vote was unanimous in favvr of the motion. Motion was made to ament~ the motion by Neil McComb for a continuous vote to obt~in any l.and for green belts, parks, etc. on a tencporary basis from land awners, by the Parks Director. Nlotion seconded by Don Tipps. Vote was unanimous in favar of the motian. Motion was aiade by Nei1 McComb chaaging the meeti~ng date and time to the lst Tuesdaq of every month at 6:30 PM. Motion seconded by J. Douglas Davis Vote was unanimous in favor of the motibn. Motion for adjoura?ent was made by Don Tipps Motion seconded by Howard Nix.
