New Business Ccm~ivcted: Item 1: Prcyposed Lians Club Project Mr. Davis Harvath presented the com~ni.ssi.on a proposal from Mr. D~arn~.y Jefferies, a member of the Li,o~s Club wY~ was ~able to att~nd the meeting, with the possibility of the Lians C1Ub to build a previllion at Richfield Park at the e~ense of the Li.ons Club . Nbti,an was made by Mr. NFGilvary for te~native approval of the Li.ans Club ta build the previlli.an at Ri~chfield Park; second was made by Mr. Tipps. Vote was tkianim>us by all Canmissi.on Members. Item 2: Staimer Track Program I~r. neal M~Cambs advised that there was $8000.00 bud~;eted for tY~e S~aa~ner Track Pro~am, $7000.00 for persarmel, and $].000.00 for su~lies. He advised ~hat $6200.00 had already been spent in persvr~nel. Iie advised that approxirt~s:tely $1500.00 m~re was needed for tY~e program. Mr. McCambs advised that Haltam City pays $6Q0.00 for s~amx~r (8-9 weeks), while North Richland Hills pays $8fl0-1000.00 for persaimel expense with the parents an a part- time basi.s. Mr. McCo~rbs advised that the bowlin~ alley offered their servi~ces for kids to use one marnin~; a waeek for free. Mr . MeCc~b s advised that he would f ind txansporta.tion which i.s the bi~gest problem, especially when. sending kids to District/ Re,~ionai euents. Hre advised that $300-500.04 was needed for T-shirts. Mr . McComb s also advised tl~at he woul.d like to add to tt~e program a fine arts children's t.l~eater presentatian with the help of Roy Odam (aaasic teacher). Iie advised that there wuuld be a need of approxamately $250.00 frorit mac~ey to p~cha.se sheet ~ ~sic pre-recorded, plus a small amo~t for spotlights. He advised that this would be done at North Richland Hi.~h ScY~ol. He advised that Haltam City had put the program cm for years which has been successful . Mr. McC~nbs advised that he wc>uld like to wi.thdraw o~ program fram tl~ merger with Naltam City or at least lay the ground wurk for next year so wie can attract our awn l~ids. Th key is have sane- ane to keep the l~ids interested. Mr . McCc~mb s advi.sed that he we~uld l ike to have it where there is no charge to the kids. Iliee advised that last year tt~ere was a$10.00 charge which inclvded a T-shirt. Mr. Tipps advised that there sY~uld be a charge where it wr~uld keep the parents and kids samewhat 3nterested. Mr . N1cCo~nb s advised tha t the basketball program with twr~ ( 2) coaches would be approximately $250.00 for t-~~o (2) w~eeeks. Mr. Tipps moticmed to expand the stam~er version to $1500.00 if needed . A seco~.d , by Mr . McConb s, wte was ~an umus in f avor of the $1500.00 increase. Item 3: Discussicm approval of By-Laws for the Parks Ca~missian, Jim Baw~z. A irotion w~as made by Mr. McCo~~bs to table the By-Laws at this time and revie~d wY~xi needed; a secand was made by 1~. Ti.pps. Vote was Laianumus in favor of tabling the By-Iaws . Item 4: Welco~rne of N~. Haward Nix as a new member to the parks camnissian. Item 5: Mr. Tipps brought up poss3bility of the city sporisoring a Camn~ity Picn3,~ on an armual basis or any other city ftazcti.ans . Mr. MeGilvray advised that with the age~.ing of North Park w~ could beg3n the armual eve~nts with a possible name of "City Fair". Mr. Tipps advised that he would talk to scm~e people to chair a ecmmittee to market an ev~nt. Iie advised that ~e should plan for sPring• Mr. Hubbard advised that he w~uld talk to Mr. Ikm Waters, Presiclait of the Ct~amber of Co~nerce, reference this event. Mr. Bo~wm advised that the infozmatian of such an event could be placed in tl~e NRH newsletter. A matian wa.s ma.de by Nfr. N1cCambs for a city wide plan to include the fo~rming of a co~mi.ttee for such of an event . A secand was made by N~r. Tipps. Vote ~s ~aninnus by all co~mnissivn menbers. Item 6: Sev~eral other tapics for our future meetings wpxe discussed: 1. The building of a golf co~se near Fossfl Creek Park. 2. Director of Parks to be hired with in the ne~rt year. 3. Cantactinq of Gene (;ray reference plantin~ blue b~mets in area.s of the parks to save maney fram mywing. 4. NorthField buildin~ bricks being torn off. 5. ~li~atians to develop residential parks in the area of ~bl~iday I.ane East and Riv+eria Drive. 6.
