HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRB 1975-02-17 Minutes MI~iUTES OF THE PARK AND RECREATION CQMMISSION OF THE CITY OF NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, NELD AT THE CITY HALL, 4101 MORGAN CIRCLE, FEBRUARY 17, 1975 CALL TO ORDER Chairman Bill Polster called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. RaLL CALL PRESENT: Chai rman Bi 11 Pol ster Members Jim Conkle Tom Connell Paula Brooks Berl Whitford Everett Hays ABSENT: Member Pat Darnell CITY STAFF PRESENT: Di rector of Putil i c Ray Bri tton Works Chairman Polster turned the meeting over to Ray Britton for a progress report on Richfield Park. Mr. Britton advised the Commission that he had purchased a used slushing machine, to use for spare parts on the present machine. Mr. Britton also reported the grass will be ready for play. The foundations had been poured for the announcers stand5. RYA has volunteered to build the stands. The footings for ~1~ight standards are in. Six more will be poured February 18. Mr. Britton informed the Commission that a.pproximately $6,000 had been spent by RYA and the City Park Fund. Mr. Polster requested Mr. Britton to find out from Texas Electric how close we are to necessary lighting for the boys' ballfield. Mr. Polster has donated 20 fruitless mulberry trees to plant at Richfield Park. DISCUSSION ON LONG RANGE The following suggestions were made: PARK PROJECTS NORICH PARK Tennis Courts Softball Diamond Hprse Shae Pits South access through the fence Swimming Pool Volleyball Stands Sasketba7l Saekstops Proper Lighting NORTHFIELD PARK Nine Ho1e Golf Course Ampi Theatre - Fine Arts Theatre Bill Polster will talk to the Mayor about the possibility of approaching Jimny Kirk about purchasing additional land. RICNFIELD PARK Additional 7ennis Court Swimning Pool - 0lympic Size Horse Shoes around Picnic Area Voi leybal i Nets Trash Reeeptacles Foothall Goalpost CITY PARK - LOOP 820 Trai1 for Matorcycies? Look into access to park AGENDA Agenda for the March 3, 1975 meeting, take list of suggestions to be presented ~o the City Council. Jim Conkle moved, second~d by Everett Hays to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried by a vote of 6-0.
