CALL TO
ORDER Chairma.n Aea Short called the meeting to order
at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Short asked Mr. Riddle to inform the Richland
Youth Association on the plans for the new proposed
park.
Mr. Riddla advised the 6ssociation the purpose of
this meetiag iB to find out what they desire in the
way of facilities to be loaated in the park.
A1so what Richland Youth Asaoeiation could furnish.
Mr. Riddle also advised the ABSOCiation they need
. to get a packa.ge deal re~dy to go to the Council as
soon as possible.
Mr. Short aeked for a. layaut of the park for the
Association to review.
Mr. Ivy inquired as to how n~uch space the plan covered.
Mr. Riddle advised him there rras about 15 acres for
playing fields.
Mr. Ivy said he was under the impression the plan had
alrea.dy been approved.
- Mr. Hunkele advised him Mr. Robertson had only
received the recommendation of the Colmaission.
Mr. Robertson will bring back a preliminary plat for
review by the Commission and City Council.
Mr. Riddle informed the Association Members when
the original plans are adopted there can be no changes.
Mr. Sprinkle asked if every thing on the plan had to
be exactly as the Governm~at wanted.
Mr. Riddle advised him they ~rould have to use the plans
submitted to the Government.
Mr. Short advised the Association when the park goes
in oparation~ there will be a good chance there will
be more spaca. 'I'he inain concern of the Commission
is what Richland Youth Aesociation needs and what the
Commission can give them.
Mr. Ivy advised the Commission the plan would be great
for Richland Youth Association if there would be room
for all the league~ to play in the park. Mr. Hunkele
advi~ed Mr. Ivy there was room for only four baseball
fielcls. Mr. Mock said they needed su fields. Mr.
Darnell advised the miniaium they could get by with
~rould be four.
Mr. Sprinkle asked if the tennis courts, trails, and ~
pionic sites all had to be put ia the plan. Mr. Riddle
advised him they did.
Mr. Ivy inquired as to what the money wae going to be
used for. Mr. Riddle advised him the money would be used to
do drainage work, landscaping, aad build baseball and
football fields, stera.g+e buildings, restrooms, picnic
areas, parking lote, and etc.
l~ir. Ivy asked rahat the Conunission Wanted Richland
Youth Association to do. Mr. Riddle advised him
whatever they could do.
Mr. Darnell inquired about the 50 cent dona.tion to be
e.dded to the utility bill for the Park and Library. He
wouid like for all af his to be donated to the park.
~7r. Riddle advised him it would be half for the park
a.nd half for the Library. The park department Would
use their part for ~ark egn3gment. Mr. Darnell
asked if he could specify wbat he wanted his to be
used for. Mr. Riddle advised him it Would be split
half and half .
ARr. Sprinkle advised the Gosgaission he thought Richland
Youth Association should go to the Richland Hills City
Council and ask for 25t~ to be addad to their IItility "
bills, for Richland Youth A~sociation because 50;g of
the gids that play in the Aesociation are from Richland
$ills.
They would not be donating to the City of North
Richland Hills, but to the Rich2and Youth Association.
Mr. Sprinkle said he thought if they had a definite
plan to show, they could g^et more donated.
Mr. Riddle informed the Association an ariel photo-
~raph of the park site had been taken and would be
ready in two or three weeks.
Mr. Sprinkle asked if the Commission has the authority
. to approve or disapprove the plan when it is returned
from Mr. Robertson. Mr. Darnell advised that they
did, but every change in the plan was a delay and also
a delay in gettin,g work started on the park.
Mr. Ivy thsnked the Commission for asking the Richland
Youth Assoeiation to this meeting. Mr. Short advised
the Association the Cormnission and City Staff ~ould
cooperate 100 per cent with Richland Youth Aesociation
and build a park for North Richland Hills.
In keeping with the purpose of this meeting, Richland
Youth Association aeked for 5 baseball fields, 3
football fielda, Richland Youth Association to operate
concession stands and have eaclusive use of fieldE
durir~ the season. Mr. Riddle advised the Association
they would have to get Council approval of their
recammendations.
A date for the neat meeting will be set at a later
time.
Chairman Asa Short moved, seconded by Mr. Hays, to
adjourn. The motion carried.
