N!r. Riddle introduced Mr. Dale Robinson to the
Commission l~iembers, and told them he was there to
help finali~e a rlaster Plan for the proposed new
park.
He ~ave each member a map shoKin~ a lay out of the
facilities to be located on the park site.
He also informed the members that a Federal Grant
of ~11~j,000 had been obtained for the park.
Before work can begin on the park, proof of purchase
must be furnished Austin and the Engineers make a
study of Drainage and Topo of the park.
Nlr. Robinson advised the Commission these plans were
very close to the one they would have to use.
There are two proposed garking lo~ts, bicyle trails,
and also ample space for a play area and picaic
grounds. At least two footba.ll and baseball fields.
R~r. Darnell said he would like to have three football
fields. He asked that they have only one baseball
field and use the other proposed one for the third
~ football field. Mr. De.rnell told the Commission
that last year F.ichland Youth Association hand2ed about
1,300 boys in football, and expected more in the
coming year.
~ ~ M:r. Darnell advised the Cor.imission that F.ichland
` Youth Association had a big interest in this project.
He said they had portable stands, li~htin~ and
fencin~ that could be used in the park.
I~;r. ~hort wanted to know the total outlay.
A:r. Riddle advised there was «:231,000.00.
Mr. Darnell said he thou~ht they could get a lot
of volunteer labor and material from Contractors in
the City.
b1r. Robinson advised the Commission Members that every
change made in the plans, was a delay.
rlr. Ballenger told the Commission that all lighting
must be under ground. He said he thought the parking
lot~ should have concrete curbs to keep cars out of
the park and have only maintance roads to the ba.seball
fields.
Mr. Riddle told the Commiseion that there would have
to be strick book keepin~, even the City has to keep
all ma.n and equipment hours.
Mr. Ballenger advised the Commission the purpose of
this meeting was to recornmend a plan that would be
acceptable to the City Council and Richland Youth
Association.
D4r. I~.rnell said he thought the plan was ideal,
e3ccept for the need of a third football field.
I~Ir. Riddle advised the Commission there would be
about twenty-five useable acres in the park.
I~lr. Pobinson also told the Commission there would
be about twenty six sites for picnic areas.
Mr. Darnell said he thought these plans were what
the City and Richland Youth Association wanted.
?dr. Aobinson advised the Commis~ion the next plans
they saw would be the priliminary plan.
t4r. Hunkele asked Mr. Robinson if they had answered
his questions.
Mr. Robinson advised him they had and he was very
pleased with the results of the meeting.
