MINUTES
APRXL 26, 1990
The North Richland Hills Library Board met in the board room of the library
on Apri1 26, at 6:30 p.m. Present were Jay Bradshaw, Clyde Zellers, Kay Schmidt,
Bob Hardy, Jan Daniels, Arlita Hallam, and Brenda Lewis. Absent: Polly Brinkley,
Roxie Hamilton, and Alisa Wood.
Vice-Chairman Clyde Zellers called the meeting to order. The minutes of the
March 8 meeting were approved as written.
'The Board briefly reviewed the results of the output measures survey included
in this month's maiting.
Arlita Hallam reviewed the director's report and added the following:
The plans for the old-fashioned 4th of July celebration have been cancelled.
Arlita is co-chairing the North Texas Conferences on Library and Information
Services which will lead to the Texas Conference in January, 1991, and
then the White House Conference on Libraries and Information Services
in July, 1991.
Details are being worked aut with the donor on plans for an anonymous
monetary gift to the library.
The library recently accepted a donation of aggroximately L00 boxes of
books. The materials are an extensive and unique collection that were
obviously acquired by an avid and knowledgeable collector and scholar.
The collection is being appraised and cataloged. We will be accepting
bids to sell the collection.
Following discussion on library staff recommended changes to the video cassette
circulation policy, the Board accepted these revisions:
Bob Hardy moved, Kay Schmidt seconded, and the motion carried that the
circulation policy be revised to read: "Parents or guardians over eighteen
may sign a contract suthori2ing check-out of these materials on a juvenile
card."
Bob Hardy moved, Jay Bradshaw seconded, and the motion carried that the
circulation policy be revised to read: "A maximum of fifteen library
materials may be in circulation to a patron at one time."
In addition to thase two staff-recomaaended revisions, Bob Iiardy moved, Jan
Daniels seconded, and the motion passed to allow video cassettes to be renewed
for one 3-day period.
Kay Schmidt reported that she is working on the invitation list and other details
of the library's 20th anniversary book shower scheduled for 3une 9.
The next meeting date was scheduled for May 17.
The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. to allow the Board members to 3oin in the
festivities for "Night of a 1,000 Stars" 3n the library.
