HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB 1989-02-22 Minutes NORTH RICHLAND HILZS LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES ~ February 22, 1989 The February 22, meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Board was held in the board room of the library at 3:30 p.m. Present were Polly Brinkley, Sanice Fenimore, Clyde Zellers, Ksy Schmidt, Ali~a Wc~od, Mike Fritz, Arlita Ha11am, and Brenda Lewis. Absent were Jan Danisls and Roxie Hamilton. Chairman Kay Schmidt called the meeting to order; the minutes of the January 25, meeting were approved as written. Clyde Zellers moved, Mike Fritz seconded, aad the motion carried to commend Library Directar Arlita H~silsm for the excellent article that she prepared for publication that appears in the 3anuary, 1g89, Wilson Librarv Bulletin. The 4-page article, entitled "Making a Church into a Lihrary: It's Easier Than You T2zin1~," contains eight pictures and interesting inforn?ation on our new library. Library Director Arlita Hallam's report: The City Council suthori~ed the signing af the Project Neighbor Reciprocal Agresment and the Pro~ect Partners grant application at the meeting of February 13. The poetry contest closed with 450 entri~s. Winners will be announced by February 2$. Adult Services Librarian Brenda Flowers has resigned to become outreach librarian for Grand Prairie Public Library. The "Murder in the Library" fund-rai~iag party scheduled for February 24, has been ca:tcelled due ta low t3cket sales. Following extensive dfscussion on the board's resolution of January 25, to request that City Council approve the reinstatement of the children's librarian, the consensus was for Chairman Kay Sehmidt to arrange to be on the March 13, council agenda and, with board and library patron support, to present the r~quest to the Gouncil. Kay Schmidt reported that she was elected an officer for the Friends of the Library group. She has reconsidered her acceptance of this position , and will resign that offiee when a replacement is available. A long-range planning workshop for small libraries is scheduled for March 3, in Mineral Wells, and the American Library Association Conference wi11 meet in Dalla~ oa June 24-30. If any board member interested in attending, please make arrangements through Kay or Arlita. The regularly schaduled meeting date of March 2Z, was rescheduled for I~arch 29, at 3:34 o.m.
