HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB 1988-05-25 Minutes ~ NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY BOARD Minutes ° May 25, 1988 The North Richland Hills Library Board met May 25, at 3:30 p.m. in the Board Room. Present were Kay Schmidt, Clyde Zellers, Mickey Oxford, Jan Daniels, Roxie Hamilton, Arlita Hallam and Brenda Lewis. Absent were Polly Brinkley, Mattie Belle Lewis and Mike Fritz. Chairman Kay Schmidt called the meeting to order. The minutes of the April Z7 meeting were approved as written. Library Director Arlita Hallam distributed copies and briefly summarized the results of the April 1988 Output Measures Statistical Survey. The Director invited all board members to join the library staff for $ aay of inservice workshops on Friday, May 27. The Board reaffirmed their decision from the March 23 meeting to support the proposed suggestion that the NTLS quarterly meetings which include lay representatives be reduced to two per year. Arlita requested that board members assist in providing refreshments for the NTLS system meeting to be held at NRHPL on June 2. We are expecting 90-100 people.. It was moved, seconded, and carried to appoint Clyde Zellers as an addi- tional NTLS Alternate Lay Representative for the current year. ~ Chairman Kay Schmidt requested that Vice-Chairman Mickey Oxford review, revise and draft the Board's bylaws to comply with City Ordinance 1478. "Revision of Bylaws" will be placed on the September agenda. Clyde Zellers moved, Roxie Hamilton seconded, motion carried to re-elect Kay Schmidt as Chairman and Mickey Oxford as Vice-Chairman for September 15, 1988-September 14, 1989. In response to a request from Senior Assistant City Manager Dennis Horvath to review and adopt or revise the proposed auditorium policy, members discussed the proposed policy. The attached draft of the Board's recom- mendation with a cover letter will be submitted to city administration. The Board has also been requested to make a recommendation to City Council regarding non-resident feess. The Board has never been in favor of the non-resident library card fee, and it prefers that there not be one. However, if there is to be a non-resident fee, the Board will recommend to City Council that there be no exceptions. The next regular meeting was scheduled for the fourCh Wednesday in September (28th). 'i'his meeting adjourned at 6 p.m. Brenda Lewis ~
