, as written.
Library Director ArZita Hallam reported that the Grand Opening Celebra-
tion was a big success. An estimated 2,500-3,000 people joined
in the day-long festivities. Public response to the new facility
has been tremendous.

with members.
On October 24, Arlita met with the newly-formed NTLS regional group
which is to provide improved communication channels from member
libraries to the system.

Arlita said that the $2.50 fee for each overdue notice following
~ the first courtesy notice will be noted on the courtesy notice that
is mailed to patrons.
Following extensive discussion on the recently-adopted policies

to contact their corresponding city council member to discuss this
policy and gather more information.
Kay Schmidt reported that she and Arlita presented the suggestion
of naming the entrance section from Rufe Snow Road "Library Lane"
to the Council. The recommendation was not approved.
Kay asked members to be thinking about long-range planning for the
Library. According to Arlita, all the goals of the 1983 five-year

new five-year plan with updates each year.
Arlita cited the section af the Library Board Bylaws pertaining
to attendance. Kay asked all members to be aware of attendance
rules.
Kay complimented Arlita, as Chairman of the Texas Library Association

enjoyed meals, and toured our new facilities. Kay was especially
pleased with Dr. Jean Greenlaw's workshop on teaching reference
~ skills to students. She hopes to contact Dr. Greenlaw about sharing
her method with NRH students, perhaps on videotape.
