March 28, 1973
The regular meeting of the board was called to order; the minutes
of the last meetin~ were read and approved.
~ Mr. Brinkley called the board's attention the the Mid-Cities report
on the City Council"s approval to buy property for future use of the
proposed new city ha11 and library.
A discussion was held on the lack of interest in the Citizens
Library Association and the need for new members. Several names
were mentioned as possibly interested, a~,~l'names for new board
members were discussed. It was decided to send notes home from
the schools to notify citizens of the next general meeting to be
held during National Library Week in April, the 2nd Tuesday at
1.:00 p.m.
Mrs. Prewitt announced that she would be getting free films to
show during the summer, and brought the board's attention to
other points of the status report to Mr. Riddl.e.
Mrs. yrewitt asked that the board approve extendin~ ~he library
hours. Z'he library would be open at 10:00 each morning, clnsing
a-~ 6:00 during the week and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Mr. A~-~vis
made the motion and Mrs. Brinkley seconded. The motion passed.
Mr. Davis asked that a report be made of the net worth of the
library to give publiaity to tTi~ pizb~:ip~~.and^ an idea of the value
of what would be put "out in the streets" if the library is asked
to move.
A letter from the Fort Worth Major Resource Council was read. zt
asked for the appointment of a new delP~atP to the May meeting.
Mr. Brinkley agreed to ask Mrs. Fred Parker if she would consent
to be the delegate.
