September 25, 1974
The regular m~eeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission
was called to order by vice-president Mrs. Oscar Reeder. The minutes
of the last meeting were read and approved.
A report on the status of the library building program was made by
Dr. Kulaga.
A~iiscussion was held on the fines charged by the library for
overdue books and paperbacks. The library~s policy has been
to charge a ma~~aimum of $1.50 per book overdue and .50~ for
pap~serbacks. A two-month trial period was held recently with
no fine~_ charge for paperhia€aks. The resulting increase in the
number of overdues was reported by Mrs. Prewitt to the board.
After discussion, the board's opinion was that the fines policy
should stand;as is~ with paperback:~overdues havin' a fine.
Mrs. Prewitt reported on the progress of the LSCA grant program.
Samples of the publicity pririin~j. material, the letter to parents
advertising the Wednesday morning story hour~and the bookmarks,
were shown to the board. The activites carr3e d out for the month
were announced, and future activities were outlined.
The library's financial report was given by Mrs. Prewitt, includ~ng
the report on the status of the budget figures at year end. The
total amount in the library fund was given as $3~36.13. Mrs.
Prewitt also announced the increase in circulation for the month
of September over ttie same month last year.
The status of receiving state funds for library in the budget
year 1976-77 by the Major Resource Centers was reported on
by Mrs. Prewitt. No decision has been made at this time to
fund libraries beyond previous allotted funds.
