HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB 1974-05-22 Minutes NORTH RICHLAND HIL7~S LIBRARY COMMISSION May 2~, ~974 _ The regular meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission was called to order at 4:45 PM. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. Dr. Ellis announced that the City Council had reappointed the three members of the board whose term expired May lst, and that Mrs. Alliene Mullendore was appointed to the vacancy left by Mrs. Charles Owens' resignation. He also announced the pay raise the council granted to all city employees. Mrs. Prewitt announced that the Summer Reading Program has been made known to the schools in the area through flyers to all the chil~ren and requests for public speaker announcements by the principals. The number of volumes in the library is ~3, 1~2, and the donations from the water bills was ~660.42. Mrs. Frewitt handed out information sheets requested by Shelah Bell, librarian at Irving, in order that she may have a list of names to call ~r<•hen library legislation is being voted on in Austin. A letter from Barbara Zieschang, secretary of the Major Resource System Council, was read explaining the importance of influencing legislatures in the future as all federal funds may come as a part of revenue sharing funds. Mrs. Prewitt and Mrs. Reeder gave the board information on thP Major Resource Systems meeting on May 9th. The way that the Texas State Library plans to expend funds in the coming years was explained. Mrs. Reeder suggested that a~program to gain public:ity and to everitually gain membexship on the council might be gained by providing services to the aged through book reviews. The Four Seasons ~~~as mentioned as a place for a trial program. Meeting adjourned.
