~ The regular meetin~ of the North Richland Hills Library Commission
was called to order at 4:30 P.M. with seven members present.
Mrs. Reeder and Mr. Ellis made a report on the proposal. to the
Moody Foundation. The proposal went in early in December, and
at the February meeting of the City Council the Council agreed
to spend ~150,000.00 if matching funds of ~6180,00.00 could be
granted by the Foundation. Mr. Ellis reported that this information
had not been received by the board receiving appli~tions for
grants at the time a letter was written b~r them ~t~:ing doum our
request atthis time. Members of the board a~reed to look for
other foundations to apply to for a~rant in the meantime.
Mr. Ellis informed the board that a name has been presented to
the City Council to r:eplace the place vacated by Mrs. Charl.es
Owen. He invited the ~oard to submit other names if they had
them.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that there are 12,536 books in the library
at this time. The circulation has increased to a total of 89
books per day durin~ this month. A school report on the library
by Holiday Heights has brou~ht many children in, and many of them
have gotten library cards. The water deposit for the month
was ~664.98; total funds i~2,420.54, most of which are already
obligated for books.
Mrs. Prewitt also informed the board of plans for National
Library Week, April 21-27, being made by the community libraries
of the area. The area libraries are plannin~ activities in the
Northeast Mall on April 26th and 27th. Announcement was also
made of the Governor's conference to be held in Austin on
April 17tht at which time state funds for libraries and other
state~.programs for libraries will be discussed. Mrs. Prewitt
reported on the February meeting of T.R.L.A. (Tarrant Regional
Library Association). Mrs. Mabel Fischer of Ft. Worth presented
pro~rams that the Texas State Library would like local approval
_ of before asking for funds in FY ~976 and 1977.
