The regular meetingoof the North Richland Hills Library Commission was
called to order by Dr. Kulaga. The minutes of the last meeting were
read and approved.
Dr. Norn~an Ellis reported that the City Council had unanimously recommended
that space be provided in the library for the term of cne year for the
Bicentennial Historical Museum. Dr. Ellis also reported that the Open
House was considered a success with over 600 people in attendance, including
Dorman Winfred of the Texas State Library.
Dr. Kulaga read a thank you note from the library staff and Mrs. Prewitt
for their cbnations toward the purchase of a refrigerator for the staff
room.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that in February 1975 that 3,418 books had been
checked out to patrons; to date in 1976 5,395 with 831 books checked out
the first two days of this week, aver~ging 270 books per day. Three
hundred and four new cards have been issued (compared with 156 in 1975),
and the collection now totals 16,785. A financial statement was given
to the board, and the final financial statement of the Friends of the
Library was ~puromised for the next board me~ting. Mrs. Prewitt informed
- the board of the possibility of installing a new circulation system that
would be more efficient, dppending on the outcome of MRC comanittee
meetings that are considering the feasibility of a computer system for
the area.
Mrs. Pre~witt requested the board consid~r ar~i qive her names of organizations
in the community that weuld be int~aacested in having 16mm films available
for tt~ir use. A questionaire would be sent to these qroups indafis~ing as
to the type films they would be interested in.
The board voted to send Mrs. Mullendore flow~rs as Dr. Kulaga informed the
board she was to return home from a Dallas Rehabilitation Center this week.
Mrs. Prewitt r~ported to the board that she had asked for authorization of
the staffing of s half-time person for the last 6 months of the budget
year. Mrs. Reeder moved that the board approve this recommendation.
The motion was seconded and pass~d.
Dr. Kulaga thanked Dr. Ellis for his work in helping the library that has
been so beneficial, and to Mrs. Prewitt for her efforts.
Dr. Ellis informed the board that letters are going out to form a bicentennial
committee.
