The meeting was called to oa3der with Mrs. Reeder, Mrs. Lewis, and Dr.
Smotherman present. Mrs. Lewis was introduced as the new board member.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The baard received a copy of the Arlington Public Library exhibit and
display waiver. The waiver was read and approved by the board to be
used as a model for the library to use for displaying art wr~rks.
Mr. Paul Marcott, local artist, presented his art werks to the board
for approval to display them. Approval was given and June 9th was
set as a date for the display to begin. Mr. Marrntt said he would
contact the Star Telegram and Mid-Cities about publicity.
Mrs. Reeder and Mrs. Prewitt gave a brief explanation of the meeting
of the Major Resource Council held at Arlington Public Library on April
21st. This was the annual meeting held to elect new members to the
council and approve budget recommendations.
Mrs. Prewitt presented the board with the library budget for 1977-'78,
which was read and discussed.
Mrs. Prewitt informed the board that Mrs. Hazelwood had received the
_ plant sent while she was in the hospital and wished to thank them very
much.
A discussion was held on whether or not to change the reading of the
waiver on length of display time, which reads four weeks. Mrs. Reeder
asked that time be saved on a calendar S~ displays for school children
to show art. Information should go to the schools in August (to the
teacherslenabling them to work with the library ahead of time on
suitable dates to show school art work. Time should also be saved
for displays by the Science Fair winners.
Mrs. Reeder asked for the board's approval to sell books as a money making
project for the library. The members present so approved. Plans for
a fall sale were discussed.
Mrs. Prewitt gave a brief report on library activities during the month,
such as tours of the library by grade school classes.
