NORTH RICHLAND HTLLS LIBRARY COMMISSION March 30, 1977 The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Reeder with all members h~ Mr. Conger present, who was out of town on business. The minutes were read and approved. Mrs. Prewitt reported that an invoice had been received for the binding of the National Geographic magazines, but the magazines had not. Appreciation for the lovely refreshments served at the March meeting of the Tarrant Regional Library Association by Mrs. Reeder and Mrs. Brinkley was given by Mrs. Prewitt on behalf of TRLA. National Library Week, April 17th thru 23rd was announced by Mrs. Frewitt and a discussion held by board members as to means of publicizing it. A suggestion by Mr. Davis to present a small gift to new library patrons, and a suggestion by Mrs. Brinkley to have a drawing for prizes each day, were considered. It was suggested that Mrs. Reeder check with Texas Rangers officials to see if it would be possible to get ten tickets, two to be given away in a drawing each day. Mr. Davis suggested checking with Ethan Allen Furniture Co. to get a grand prize to be given away the last day (Friday) to all library users. The baseball tickets would be given to new patrons. A book sale would be held on Monday, the 18th, and all area newspapers would be given information on this sale and the prizes. There would be a limit of one per day for each drawing, or only one entry per person for _ the grand prize. Board members suqgested that merchants could be contacted once a year for money or merchandise to use for publicity. It was decided that next year information on National Library Week and special events during that we~k could be printed on the backs af the water bills. Mrs. Reeder asked that board members might be on hand to give new patrons a tour of the library during the week. Mrs. Reeder and Mrs. Hazelwood agreed to check with Ethan Allen. The board recommended the following names to be checked to see if they would like their names presented to the City Council for appointment to a vacant position May lst on the library board: Mrs. Hetty Nolan, Mrs. Billy Baker, and Mrs. Betty Buffington. Mrs. Buffi.ngton was suggested to be checked to give the board an area representative for the Smithfield area. Mrs. Prewitt reported that new shelving additions had been installed and the book collection shifted to take advantage of the increased space. The financia2 report was read.
