HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB 1977-02-23 Minutes NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY COt~SISSION February 23, 1977 The r~gular meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission was called to order by Mrs. Reeder. Mrs. Brinkley and Dr. Smotherman were pres~nt. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mrs. Hrinkley infoz~med the members that Mr. Davis' wife has been ill and in the hospital. The board agreed to send flowers. Mrs. Prewitt informed the board that she had checked with other libraries on their policy of displsying art and other items. Mr. Boyer of Arlington Public Library is sending a copy of their policy, which Mrs. Prewitt read brief su~maries of the items covered. The board agreed that this would be used as a basis for a policy for this library and a decision w~ould be rea~d at the next meeting when a copy of the Arlington policy could be read by all members. The board also decided that three board members could comprise a comaittee to decide on display items for the library. Anyone wishing to display something could app~ar before the board at each monthly meeting. The committee could be ro~ated among the members; the period of time to serve was not decided. Mrs. Prewitt reported on her progress toward finding a means to hang pictures. It was suggested that either the pictures be displayed lV on easels os hung on the walls. It was felt that this w~ould not really cause undue damage to th~ walls.:if not abused, although the members did not find this to be the best solution. Mrs. Brinkley suggested use of a display cabinet to be installed along the library/meeting room wall. Mrs. Prewitt informed the board that the annual meeting of the Advisory Coun~il for the Major Resource System would be held at the Arlington Public Library March 24th. This is the meeting at which new members to the Council are elect~d. Our representative la~t year was Mrs. Reeder, whose biograph~cal sketd~ is still on file with the System. Mrs. Reeder agreed to be the repre~entative again this year,~„ . - ~ Mrs. Prewitt gave a brief sunnnary of the current activities of the System. The board was requested by Mrs. Prewitt to read the financial report included in the handouts they received. Meeting adjourned.
