November 29, 1978
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Brinkley, President. Minutes of
the last meeting were approved as read.
A discussion was held on the success of the library being opened one night
each week. Mrs. Prewitt reported that though business is still slow, publicity
is planned. An ad will be placed in the Ric~l.and High Sch+~ol paper and period-
ically notices will be sent to area newspapers. Mrs. Br~nkley suggested
the PTA groups be notified to place information in their newsletters,
Mrs. Prewitt discussed with the board her visit to the Farmers Branch Public
Library. The Library there has been automated using a computer available
through the police department, and is a system that would be very compatible
with the Morth Richland Hills library and its operation.
Mrs. Prewitt gave the board a list of items suggested for purchase with
money raised by the book sale. Mr. Baker requested that the list be
included with the next notice of board meeting so that board members
would have time to consider the suggestions. Mrs. Prewitt said she would
do this along with a cornplete list of business needing the attention of
the board and a briefing on it for board members.
Mrs. Prewitt also reported that she had received a proposal from the
Chas. F. Williams Co. for enclosing the entryway into the library with
glass, and a request from Mayor Faram for the board to be the final
decision maker on the disposition of legal books not considered necessary
for the city or library to have in their collection.
Mrs. Prewitt informed the board of a sut~gestion from Mrs. Daniels to put
a recepta~ble in the library for book donations--perhaps decorated as a
clown. This would be a year~round reminder to people to bring in their
unwanted books.
The next library board meeting will be on the regular date in January.
Meeting adjourned.
