HomeMy WebLinkAboutLIB 1978-01-25 Minutes NORTH RICHLAND HILLS LIBRARY CONIl~IISSION - January 25, 1978 The regular meeting of the North Richland Hills Library Commission was called to order by Mrs. Reeder, bcbard president. Minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. Mrs. Reeder requested discussion on the proposal to be sent ti~ the City Manager, Gene Riddle, Mrs. Prewitt reported that Mrs. Haz~~wood would be absent, but wanted the board to know she approved tha proposal. The board approved sending the pr!~posal to Mr. Riddle as soon as it is in final form; motion made by Mr. Smotherman, seconded by Mrs. Brinkley. Mrs. Prewitt reported that the Annual Report to Texas State Library had been completed and read the board pertinent statistics included in that report. A question was raised by Mr. Smotherman about county funding to the library. Mrs. Prewitt explained the development of increased funding to the librars~es in Tarrant County, and the action taken by libraries each year to let the county commis~ioners know that the libraries are concerned with funding. The board members present felt they would be interested in attending future work sessions next winter when work is being done on the county budget~to show support and lobby for increased fund~. Mrs. Prewitt announced to the board that National Library Week this year will be April Znd through 8th, and requested that the Board be considering ideas for publicity to present at February's meeting. Mrs. Prewitt said that she would present a list of programs for library awareness for the board's consideration. Announcement was made by Mrs. Prewitt of the Texas Library Association convention to be held in the Tarrant County Convention Center April 5-8. A Friends and Trustees Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, April 7th, and Mrs. Prewitt will bring further information on this and other meetings of interest to the trustees at a later date. The board members were asked to read the financial report and City Manager reports. Meeting adjourned by Mrs. Reeder.
