NORTH RICNLAND HILLS LIBRARY COMMISSION
August 29, 1979
The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Brinkley, followed by the reading
of the minutes and approval.
Mrs. Prewitt requested that item 6 on the agenda be taken first as Mrs.
Anderson, in~~-charge of the story hour programs, was then present to
answer any questions. Item 6, a request from the library staff for
approval of a policy for preschool picture book time, was read by the
board. Dr. Ellis suggested that the term""mother" be changed to read
"parent or guardian" in the appropriate places in the policy. Dr.
Smotherman nbved that the policy be approved as amended; Dr. Ellis
seconded. Motion passed.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that the monthly report was available in the handouts
the board received at the beginning of the meeting, and that although the
city has adopted a weekly report, a monthly report will still be av~ffiilable
for the board. The financial report, also in the packet, was reported as
almost a final re~~t of expenditures as funds w~uld not be expended out
of the city budget until October 1. Mrs. Pre~itt reported to the board
on the final outcome of the budget for 1979-80 with cuts being made in
the book budget, personnel salaries.,(~~~ary for a children's librarian
~ we~.~- disapproved), and furniture and equipment.
Mrs. Brinkley made a report on the book sale to be held in the Northeast
Mall September ~Sl~. and 29th. She requested that Mrs. Prewitt check to
see if the city would again help in moving the books from the recreation
center to the mall. Mrs. Prewitt reported that eight volunt~ers had
signed up to help with the s~~~e. Mrs. Br~nkley arranged times for
tho~e available to help with the sale.
