NORTH RICHI.AND HILLS LIBRARY COPIIKISSION
September 24, 1980

The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Charles Brinkley. The following
members were present:
Mrs. Brinkley Mrs. Lynn O~Day
Idattie Helle Lewis S. K. Haker
J. Fred Davis Ron Sa~otherman
The minutes of the last meeting were read. Mr. Baker mov~d they be accepted
a~ read; Mrs. Lewis seco~ded. Atiotion passed.
The board welcomed Mrs. O'Day to the board, and Mrs. Prewitt gav~ her
a trustee handbook prepared by Texa~ State Library.
Officers for the new year were elected. Mrs. Blrinkley was elected
chairman and Mrs. Lewis vice-chairman. Mrs. Prewitt continues as
secretary.
Mrs. Prewitt reported that the 1980-81 budget had been approved and announced
that state funding through the North Texas Library System will total 54,757~
Federal funding, available in Jannary or l~ebruary will brinq the total to
an estimated 57200. Mrs. Prewitt asked that tt1~ board write to Mr. Hugh
Edburg of the Leqislative Hudget Hoard as soon as possible in ~upport
of S1 per capita funding foa libraries from the state. Mrs. Prewitt
also reported that she and Mrs. Brinkley had attended the semi-annual
meeting of the North Texas Library System held at Graham on S~t. 4th.
Mrs. Prewitt infc>~aed the board that part of the system funds this year
had been plann~d to buy a 3~'inch videocassette recorder/player. A TV
set would possibly be purchased out of book sale profits. She asked
the board for a discussion on this rnatter and if they approved. The
board f~lt that the recorder would be an innovative step and would be
useful. in the future as well as now and approved of the funds being
spent for it. Mrs. Prewitt told the board that cable TV programming
ias in the future. Once the city ha~l has been wired it will be
possible to put proqra~as on the air from the library.
Mrs. Brink2ey re~ai.nded the board that the book sale by the Friends
of the Library would be S~pt. 26th and 27th and took names of
those who could help.
