Fred Davis Mattie Belle Lew3.s Jan Daniels Election of officers was postphoned to the September meeting so that aIl rnembers could be present. Mrs. Brinkley reported that she had met with the Friends of the Library Hook Sl~le Cortmai~ttee on Monday night. Glenda Tennyson is in charge and the date for the sale has been set for September 26th and 27th at the North East Mall. Members of the board who helped last year, and who can help this year, were asked to let Mrs. Brinkley know what time they could help. Mrs. Prewitt showed the board the qraphs depicting the circulation increase over the last 4~ years and briefly covered infornration in the monthly , reports to the city manager. Mrs. Prewitt reported that circulation jumped from 11,671 in June of 1979 to 12,118 in 2980. In July the jump was from 11,625 in 1979 to 13,955. The increase was in part due to the success of the Summer Reading Club, w~ll attended this year b~ the childrer?. She reported that an effozt had been made to limit th~ programs to only children who had finished first through sixth grades. Story hour prvgrams for pre-school children were held at other times. The emphasis had been on quality programs far a little older child in the sunnner reading clula and this is being evaluated for next year's planning of programs. Mrs. Prewitt annour~ced that budget changes had been made and that to support salary i.ncreases the money for new shelving is now planned to come out of the Library and Park Fursd. Extra money from the North Texas Library System has purchased the badly needed audiovisual cabinets, also i.n ~he bud~jet originally. Mrs. Prewitt informed the board that Mr. W. H. Moc~re had requested the board consider accepting the donation of six framed U. S. documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Mrs. Hrinkley agreed to go with Mrs. Prewitt to visit A9r. Moc~re and bring back to the board a decision on accepting. Meeting adjourned.
